Connected Drive - G20 lost messaging capability

When I have trouble with the ConnectedDrive app, one of the troubleshooting steps that I use is to delete the car on the app and then re-enter it by using the last 7 characters in the VIN. The app then asks for a confirmation number that shows up in the car in the messaging (also where destinations selected in the Connected Drive app).

When I tried this yesterday, I got the message that the car itself (not the app) was not set up for messaging. This never happened before...

How can I address this??
