The numbers are truly amazing to me considering the car's power and performance. During overtakes, the car accelerates from 60 to 100+ mph in a flash which inspires a lot of confidence when passing semi's on two lane roads.
IMHO, BMW has done an incredible job with this car. It has a wonderful balance of power, handling, ride comfort, and fuel economy. Buying the M340i was the best car buying decision I've ever made!
I agree! With adaptive cruise control 70-75mph on non-congested highways, I get 35-38mpg. I’ve even gotten as high as 39-40mpg but not consistently. This is significantly higher than the rated 30mpg. It’s when you hit stop and go that the economy goes to crap, but still better than your average V6. As long as you avoid full throttle, I find this car to be as economical as an “economy car” on the freeway.
