Does anyone recognise this buzzing sound G20 rear wheel? [Resolved]

Update: Took it to the local garage, they were able to locate the sound as the plastic flapper valve inside the exhaust system. The plastic teeth of the two flaps were clattering together. It's purpose is to close to increase the temperature of the exhaust gasses for better cleaning. Mechanical fault appeared in Diagnostics. Manufacturers part ordered and fitted for £195. Thanks to Blacks Garage in Rainford, Merseyside for their diagnostics.

Hi everyone - this is my first message, hopefully you can help me out with this.

Just today, I heard this sound coming from the rear of the car while driving. It happens when I touch the accelerator while driving and when I switch the ignition off and when I start the car. The video is just after ignition on and idling. Sounds like an impact driver when it hits the clutch setting, maybe a solenoid or contactor/relay? It has a 1-2 second burst then stops. Is the fuel pump above the rear wheel? Not heard a pump sound like this though. Any help would be very much appreciated!

[Edit: I've put the Vimeo link at the bottom instead, thanks Inlyssg]

Thanks!

Vimeo link below instead - it's like the sound an impact driver makes when it hits the clutch, for about 2 seconds on start up and shutdown of the car.

Hey

I think people are wary of downloading zipped files on their devices, at the moment

I'm wondering if the noise you're talking about is something that has been discussed previously? The car's systems, particularly its air-con, makes some noise when it starts up.

Apart from that, there is a general hum in every BMW when it starts up.

If you upload your clip to Vimeo/ YT or somewhere that allows people to stream it without downloading it, you may get a better response.

Hi thanks for responding - I think you're right, no one wants to download a .zip file from a stranger!.

It's definitely not from the dash - its above the rear drivers side wheel. I'm thinking thats where the fuel pump is?

I've tried put the video link here many times, but it won't put it in the message, which is frustrating. The video is number 945740070 in Vimeo - thats all I can do to show the video. More hassle for someone trying to help me out.

Very odd. the link is hxxps://vimeo.com/945740070 but change the hxxps to https . For some reason the forum must be blocking Vimeo direct links and embeds!

Thanks for the link!

I had something similar on my G30 and I thought it was to do with the electronic parking brake. I never bothered getting it checked because it only happened intermittently and I was pretty sure it was the electronic parking brake's motor.

If yours is happening more frequently, best to have it checked.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for responding. I had thought it may be the parking brake, but I've switched it on and off many times to exercise it and it has no issues. Parking brake doesn't engage when I press the accelerator when I'm driving, but the sound appears then, so I don't think it's the brake.
