I used to work at Hyundai... NEVER will I ever remotely own a Hyundai in my life... they are unreliable POS vehicles.. trust me... so many problems on them.. atleast with BMW you get quality and a company that stands behind its product ...

They call out many of the new 3 series flaws that i see however. It's still lacks focus, and the new tech is a mish mash of mostly non useful additions. The cockpit is really poorly done, the piped in engine noise makes the car sound cheap and like it's trying too hard.

Have you actually set in a Hyundai? It's a good car but feel around, the material feels cheaper and looks cheaper to me. I am not a snob but I cant see myself getting in one everyday after work or taking my wife out on a date in one. Nice car but not for me.

Check out the G70 - it's a very solid car, and it's a good value play. No, not as refined as the BMW, but Genesis has been slowly and steadily improving the cars to the point where the $$ saved makes them a very credible option.
The engine is very anodyne and boring, especially the 6-cyl., but if there is one market entrant that BMW and Audi should be concerned about, it's Hyundai. |

I'm actually a big fan of the G70, and they clearly went for BMW - especially when Genesis hired the ex-M division leader - I just wish they had their own dealership network rather than sharing with Hyundai. That is probably the biggest turn off I have for the G70, otherwise, it is an excellent value for a sports car that handles really well.

I think BMW could put it on a diet to lose some weight, develop a new steering system to add some natural feel/weight when cornering, and reduce the number of gimmicks (piping of fake engine noise) to make it more "focused"

I don't trust these big companies.... I feel like they get paid off, here's exactly why I wouldn't want to own the genesis.... BMW has experience and is more refined all around.. even at the end Jakub states he would take the M340i over the C43 and the G70 any day... even in there M340i review on the track they were literally screaming in joy and praising BMW for making a good sports sedan... I trust these guys, highly reputable reviewers .. not these big automotive companies that you can tell get paid to say good things about certain brands.. + My
Personal opinion the G70 does not look appealing at all, but personal opinions. |

The fact that Genesis is eliciting these types of responses means they made a good car. I finally saw one today, and it looks far better than the M340i.

G70 is a very good car. Might not be as refined, and the engines are a bit more coarse and generic in feel, but Genesis did an excellent job of getting 85% of the way there and making the car an excellent value. |

My biggest problem with the G70 though is that I can't stop seeing a Hyundai when I look at it. It's a good value luxury car, but a really expensive Hyundai. I know that's probably a stigma it has now that will fade with time as the Genesis brand becomes more established (like Lexus in the early days...although I still don't like Lexus!). But for now, I just can't get past that. Perhaps that's my loss, as by all accounts I'm missing out on a good car. |

Also, get rid of the awful piped in engine noise, or at least give us the option to turn it off. It sounds terrible in the 4 cylinder models in my opinion. The idrive was already the benchmark, they didn't need to redo it, and I'd argue idrive 6 is the superior system. I'd also stop obsessing with making the car bigger. There is just no need for it, it's big enough! |

I agree the M340i is a good car by the way. I hate the live cockpit, but it's a nice improvement over the F30. |

Maybe they should follow ford, and stop selling their sedans in the US. Then they can just focus on the suv market, and anyone who wants a "real sports sedan" can buy a g70, Audi, Alfa, or whoever the automotive journalists have currently sold out to. The suv market is easier to please because they know what they want, and expectations are clearer. |
