pricing changes for 2023?
My dealer just called me to let me know I finally got an allocation for a 2023 m340i (4th week 2023 production). In the same breath they said BMW of North America is increasing MSRP and that the price would be around $1500 more for my build. I placed a deposit for the car on an agreed price and now that price is being changed. Any advice or can anyone confirm this price change is at the manufacturer level and not a dealership trick?

Even if you placed a deposit at an agreed price?

If the dealer doesn't have an allocation the agreed upon price is just an estimate. When people put down deposits and then are shifted into the next model year of production the price usually shifts then as well. Don't see why it wouldn't apply for a mid-year price increase as well.

I'd have a hard time with that.

I already got my 2023, so this increase doesn't affect me. But when I pushed on my dealer's demand of 5000 over MSRP back in April (for a 2022 model year build) they used the excuse that 'with inflation the price will likely go up before my order gets allocated, so it helps us cover that". I got them to reduce it the overage to 3500 after I was walking out the door telling them I am just driving down to Dallas where I know of a dealership that is less greedy (wish I did), and I am 90% sure they retaliated on us and skipped us on their allocation a few times, and then when the model year turned over to 2023 and the price went up a bit (and options changed a little), they ended up making us pay the new MSRP for our build +3500.
They were never going to eat any inflation increases. I love my BMW, but I won't ever order from that dealer again after all of that (not jus for the above, but between order and delivery, they were impossible to ever get a hold of, and when I did, they never had any answers and seemed very annoyed I was asking). Wish in the US we could just order direct from BMW. |

My dealer told me that there is a possibility that the packages will also have a price increase in addition to the MSRP increase
I’m wondering if we don’t get a prod number by now, does it mean that we will 100% get a vehicle that’s produced next year? |

There may be a few allocations for December floating out there but I'd say it's a safe bet to expect you're not going to get a vehicle that goes into production until January at the earliest, especially with no production number at this point.
