When port installed, the M Performance rear spoiler & front splitter must be bundled?
My CA is telling me he has been in contact with port hueme and they are informing him that to get the M perf CF spoiler, the front splitter needs to be added as well. This is for "aerodynamic reasons". This sounds odd, but My CA is a personal friend so I have no reason to not believe him.
Has anyone had any similar experience? |

I added the CF spoiler to mine without having to add the front splitter.
Edit: Looks like they changed it. The CF spoiler does now require the front splitter. Last edited by JasonX4MComp; 07-08-2019 at 03:16 PM.. |

Absolutely. It's almost every M Performance part you need to buy something else. The CF front splitter you need to get the black front splitter. Rear diffuser you need get the rear trim.

So this is a change in the ordering system? That's a big disappointment as I wanted the CF spoiler (car to hit port 7/22).

Are we talking cf front splitters, black front lip, or both just to add Cf spoiler? Cuz I added black front lip only with my cf spoiler by choice.. seems odd to HAVE to add splitters to get the spoiler

He didn't specify. But I struggle to think that it's aerodynamic reasons. They said "per their standards". Sounds to me like they are trying to force customers to buy both. I plan on calling BMWNA on this to get more info

I called BMWNA and they couldn't really give me any info other than to work with my CA. Its a port thing. I asked if there was a port division or something like that but they didn't know. I looked and you can buy it a la cart w/out the splitters so this just verifies to me its the port trying to force bundle. Its a bummer as i won't be forced into buying something i don't want so i'll pass on the CF spoiler.

Correctomundo, to add CF rear spoiler you must add front splitter. I reached out to a colleague at BMW that spoke to the PIA colleagues and they confirmed it must be coupled together due to aero reasons. I hope my roundabout times near my house improve.

It's always been listed that way in the parts catalog. It will say "only in conjunction with..." and then list all of the "required" parts.
Just buy what you want and have the dealer install it before you take delivery. I have the front lip installed and the non-CF M-Performance rear spoiler. I can assure you that my car is safe to drive and won't lift off the ground because I didn't get the larger, "mandatory" CF rear spoiler, lol. |

I struggle with the aerodynamic reasoning. I agree with the above, just buy it ala cart and have your dealer install. Though you can't residualize it, which makes it a bit more costly. Though you could sell it when you return your lease.

Yes, it is to balance the aerodynamics of the car. If you increase the downforce in the rear you need to decrease the lift on the front of the car by adding the front lip.

Maybe if you're on a racetrack doing 140+mph. But for driving on the street this is a non-issue.
