Steering Intervention issues?
Hi Everyone, I've had my i4 M50 for a few days and I really enjoy driving it around. Sport mode is a blast! I haven't tried sport boost or launch control yet since the manual recommends waiting for a break-in period of about 300 miles.
Anyway, one thing I found annoying-bordering-on-scary is the steering intervention for lane departure. The software or sensor seems to get confused when the lines aren't clearly marked or there are other white lines such as diagonal cross-walk lines. It's already happened twice where I am perfectly on my lane but the car thinks it needs to intervene and I get this unexpected steering pull that makes me jump. I'm about to turn that feature off but wanted to check what others are experiencing. Not sure if there is a particular sensor issue with my car or just the software is a bit buggy. Any thoughts? |

I get this sometimes making cuts the car deems unsafe.
Usually when this happens you just hold onto the wheel tight and make sure you steer it in the direction u want |

Turn the steering intervention option off. It was never useful to me especially if you run into emergency situation you only got a fraction of sec to react.

Agree on turning this off. I find the vibration provides plenty of warning if I unintentionally deviate from a lane. When I deviate intentionally, I don't want the car to fight me.

I leave it on... I figure it helps me more than it hurts me. You get used to it's behavior and know when you might have to grip the wheel a little tighter.

100% turn it off, steering intervention isn't the best in real world scenarios, it is definitely more hassle than it is good.
You will get active side collision protection which you can't turn off. |

Does turning this feature off affect the active driving assistant that keeps you in the lane when driving on cruise?

Active side is a bit scary as it usually happens with a truck next to me when I'm in a narrow lane.

What's weird is that steering assist doesn't ever bother me . Lane keep assist I set to med vibrate only. It is definitely more abrupt than helpful.
