Bmw 330i 2019 Steering wheel replacement

Hi Guys, im new here and I decided to change my steering wheel for a g80 one. But my question is, I have the driving assistance on my car and the new wheel doesn’t. Is it possible to change wiring out of this one “as well as buttons” to make it work on the new wheel?

No, as on cars with driving assistance the steering wheel has a conductive ring as part of the functionality (to sense that the driver is holding the wheel).

You would need to either a) get a bypass module to use the G8x wheel you have purchased or b) procure the correct G8x wheel from a G8x that also has driving assistance

You can install an emulator which will allow it to work.

Thanks! But where would i connect it to? Doesnt the wheel have to have the driving assist for it to be connected “this emulator” to?

It plugs into the existing loom in the steering wheel.

I’m assuming this is a Chinese made copy and not a genuine wheel.

You need to switch over the buttons from your existing wheel to be able to use the driving assistance.

However, that won’t be possible until you source the correct trim piece - as your new wheel trim piece is missing the cut outs for the lights above the buttons.

Meaning if you move across your existing buttons - the trim won’t fit.

Hi! Quick question, if I buy a wheel like this. For my g20, does the car recognize it or would it need to be coded? Again thanks for the help

If you buy that wheel and switch over your buttons, you wont need to do anything coding wise - it will work as per your existing wheel.

Not coding as such, but you may need to carry out a brief update to the button modules using Tool 32 so that they work in your car.
