Verdict on the ADRO facelift kit?
Seeing more and more of these and was wondering if the look is growing on the G80 fans. I know initially it seemed to have many detractors who liked the original look. I’m actually surprised at how many I see posted on various sites. What does this G80 forum say?

No thanks. I like my stock G82 laser lights. Why try to be something you're not by adding yellow instead of the blue highlights? Makes zero sense to me. I love my car just like it is, a beast on the road!

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Some like it, some don’t. Personally, I like it from some angles but think it looks a bit weird from others. I’ll reserve full and honest judgment until I see it in person. I think most of us can agree that it looks better suited on the M4 vs the M3. That being said, I know of a few owners that absolutely love their adro front bumper and it really puts a smile on their faces. They can’t imagine going back to stock - to each his/her own. I had someone do a render of an M3 with the bumper but swapped to Dakar Yellow. Personally, I’d be happy with either look, so I can’t justify spending 5-6k on it since I’m not in love with it. I’ll stick to the Vorsteiner grille and lip for now

I don’t like it. The overall design reminds me of a catfish.
The area between the grill and hood (where the BMW logo is) is too large, and combined with the molding of the lower side vents it makes the front of the car look long and droopy. It doesn’t improve upon the #1 complaint everyone has about the stock grill; the Adro grill is still large, it’s just a little flatter and wider. |

This pic is interesting. When you really look at it all the ADRO kit did was pinch the grills top and bottom, and add their own styling to the fangs. There isn’t a whole lot that could be changed because the whole car seems to be designed starting from those grills. I can see why many would prefer the original design.

The grille design is a massive improvement over the stock. The rest of bumper is a bit too aftermarket-ish in my view, and needs to be toned down. That being said, it works well the dark paint (e.g. the EB2 from OP pictures).
Interesting the ADRO bumper is out for quite a long time and there is no individual review anywhere.

I personally had a pre order on this and was going to pull the trigger on it. But the more pictures that I saw of it, the more I started to dislike it. I hate the fact that they extended the nose in that it looks disproportionate to the rest of the car. "It's a no from me"

It’s kind of got an uncanny valley thing going on. I guess I’m just too used to the factory design, this is tweaked just enough to look bizarre. Grill swaps and splitters etc don’t have that kind of effect to my eye.

I think it’s okay. I do like how it looks straight on, but I’ve yet to see a picture from the side profile. I think it would look weird from the side. Also, it’s too AMG with the smaller shark nose forn factor. Not saying it looks bad, it’s just different. Probably too far deviated from BMW

I definitely prefer the stock grille over the ADRO variant. I don't mind the shape of the ADRO grille but it is far too low. As JY01 posted, my first thought when I saw it was a catfish. Even the side angles on each side of the grilles are similar to a catfish's barbels (whiskers). I did some quick mockups below to illustrate this. I also did a super rough version of how I wish the ADRO grille was placed (i.e. higher up and closer to stock location).
Issue with the ADRO grille - far too low: Catfish comparison - barbels too: My VERY ROUGH mockup - General area where I wish the grille was located. Sort of a combo of the ADRO and the 3.0 CSL:

I saw a G80 with this bumper at the NY Auto Show. I can appreciate the design and manufacturing refinement that went into it, which is top notch for something that is aftermarket. However, it is to me a missed opportunity to actually improve the front end of the car. While there are some things I do prefer about it over the OEM bumper, namely the details that do make it seem more premium, I think it misses the mark on actually being a better-looking alternative for the G8X. I agree with the other posters that the elongation of the hood looks forced and awkward. IMO something akin to the new 3.0 CSL would really work for this car.

Not a bad design by itself but it makes G8X not look like a bmw M car anymore.

I think they may have been limited by how much they could raise the ACC sensor before they risked people complaining about calibration issues and other side effects. Keeping it as close to the ORM location as possible would be a way to wipe their hands off any complaints. At this point, I strongly prefer the OEM bumper over these alternatives. Reminds me of these weird Civic bumpers that people would swap on older Civics and not in a great way. When cars go too far off the OEM track, it’s very difficult to not start having them feel a little ghetto (imo). |
