Figured I’d ask since I’ve seen a couple posts on this but nothing really conclusive.

On my 2020 M340i xDrive I’ve got this high pitched whine that shows up mostly around ~40mph & ~70mph. It’s pretty faint at first but once you notice it, it’s kind of impossible to ignore.

Couple things I’ve noticed:

• It is most notable at specific vehicle speeds
• Pitch doesn’t really change, just comes and goes
• Seems to cycle every ~5–10mph
• Sounds like it’s coming from the front

Dealer actually acknowledged it when I brought it in, but didn’t do anything to diagnose it under warranty.

From digging around it looks like some people have had the front diff replaced for a similar noise, but it seems hit or miss depending on the dealer.

Just curious if anyone else is dealing with this or had it fixed.
If you did get it fixed, did a diff replacement actually solve it? If you had it replaced, was it under warranty or did you pay out of pocket and how much did it cost?

I'm also wondering if there's any recourse with BMW customer relations. I have a case opened with them, but they need the dealer to formally diagnose it so I'll be trying that again soon.
