I have a problem with the raised stitching on the seat-pan of my M340i seats. The curvature of the raised stitching (which has a tube-like appearance), that I think is meant to mimic the Hofmeister kink, digs into the back of my leg. Particularly, my left leg due to my seating bias. I think this is a first, as I don't recall any other BMW sport seat ever having raised stitching on the seat pan. Usually the seat pan is flush, or if there is any stitching, it's pointed inwards. The only way I can get relief is by pivoting the seat-pan downwards where my thigh and knee meet.

I had pain shooting down my right hip/thigh for few days, probably because the seat base was tilted too much towards the back. I have not had any issues since I adjusted it.

I find every car uncomfortable when I change - in reality I think it is just 'different'.
My Volvo,S80"seats were unbelievably comfortable, liking sitting in armchairs.....the F34 I had after seemed uncomfortable at first but was supremely comfortable after a while....and I am still getting used to the G20 M Sport electric seats...a month in they do seem hard at the moment but I am sure I will get used to them...although I could really do,with the seat extension thing at the front giving more support. The lumbar support is good, shame it doesn't have a memory function. |

Also, exercise might make the discomfort worse before it improves. I know that when I've recently worked out, an uncomfortable seat feels that much less comfortable to fatigued muscles. It's not that big a deal for me, but just figured I'd throw that out there for those with back issues worse than mine. |

For me the seats in my M340 seem just right. Most supportive I've had so far and with current setting fits me like a glove. I have the leather. Would like a softer touch leather like the high end models but have no real complaints.

My left leg is uncomfortable as it kinda rests on the outside of the lower portion of the curved bottom. I don't know how to fix it because to put your foot on the dead pedal requires leaning on the hard part of the outer cushion

Try raising the the bottom part of the seat 1/4 to 1/2 way up. Really helped with my lower back pain and also helped a bit with my left leg positioning.

Everyone's body is different and there is ONLY ONE SUREFIRE WAY TO EASE BACK PAIN. Core workouts. Strengthen your abs and core so your lower back doesn't do all the work.

I picked up a G20 330e about 3 weeks ago and can't seem to get comfortable in the driving seat. I love the car but as I can't get comfortable I'm starting to regret my decision. Admittedly I didn't take much of a test drive but as I have had 5 BMW's I thought the comfort would be on a par with others. Have any G20 owners struggled with any knee pain, hamstring pain while getting used to the new seats? I do have memory seats and hoping tweaking it over the next few weeks will get me to the right position. Does anyone have any tips if they to struggled with seat comfort in the G20 and does it get better as time goes on?
Thank you |

I used to suffer lower back pains in my previous cars so made sure I got the lumbar support for the 330e and it's the comfiest car I've owned!
Not sure about hamstring/knee pain - If you're at full stretch try bringing the seat forwards and up a touch maybe? |

I first started reading this thread before my car arrived, and wondered if I would have any issues with the seats. Right away I felt the "tubing" effect of the Vernasca seat design stitching, and it does feel unusual at first, and did not have the "immediately comfortable" feel that my prior Lexus had. However, I have since done two extended multi-hour drives, and my back and butt are less sore after long sitting periods than they were with the Lexus. It seems the softness of the Lexus seats may have come at the expense of longer-term comfort.
In a 10 minute test I would say the Lexus seats were more comfortable, but after 3-4 hours in each, the G20 definitely wins. Also I wonder to what extent M adaptive suspension is responsible for long-term riding comfort, because it eliminates the "bouncing" effect on highway driving and keeps the car level while absorbing the bumps. I have not yet tried standard comfort mode or sport mode on a longer trip. |

By way of an update (I'm the OP), nearly five weeks into ownership, my comfort has increased DRAMATICALLY. I'm not quite at 100% but we are certainly moving in that direction.
I don't think it's an issue of "finding" the right seat position rather, I'm getting used to the seat in general. Perhaps there is a seat break-in period! |

Ways to improve M340i seat comfort?
Hey guys.
So I have had the car for nearly 3 months now and I am still having major issues with seat comfort in this car. To me, they actually might be the most uncomfortable seats I have ever had in a car.... even with the lumbar support fully retracted the lower back of the seat just sticks out too much and really really bugs me. I was wondering if anyone knew or purchased any sort of seat cover, or lower back insert that would help. I have never had this issue before. Thanks everyone. |

Took me until about 6000 miles on the car to really enjoy the seats. Now at 10k miles I don't even think about them anymore. I have the upgraded leather seats with blue stitching.

Maybe try tilting the back forward more, then tilting the whole seat forward more? |

The seats don't bother me anymore. I still don't think they're comfortable but i think the body adjusts and just gets used to them. The worst thing i did was keep changing the seating position every week. Just pick a seemingly comfortable position and stick with it for a few weeks.
