After lots of reading including reviews by tire rack and other sites, I recently chose Pirelli P Zero A/S Plus 3 for my car.

Thinking of replacing my Michelin PS 4's with these when the time comes (and it is soon) to get better longevity.

That’s exactly what I did and I can barely notice any loss of traction. I’m not pushing it to the limits very often though I do enjoy sliding around the on-ramps on occasion.

I’ll probably get another set of AS4s when these wear out.

Sub $200 per tire is the problem. The two standouts are the Continental DWS06+ and the Michelin Pilot Sport AS4, but I think they cost more than you are willing to spend.

Good point.
I was looking at both and they are great options!
For the quality I’m willing to go up in price.
At the end of the day, the ride quality and the handling plus the value is the most important thing. So I think I’m gonna consider those two options.

As long as I get away from those god off over run flats.

What about safety? They are the point of contact for your car… there’s a few things you can’t cheapen out on regarding cars, safety is number 1. There’s a HUGE difference between shir tires and something like the Michelins PSAS3/4 the guys have been recommending.

You’re right about that. I can’t cheap out on that part. I’ve heard nothing but good things on the pilot 4.

I’ve only ever had Bridgestone and Parelli’s. And they were just OK.

Thanks for reminding me!

DWS06+ are the benchmark and have been for a few years, most of the top performance AS tires are similar now and will trade blows in different areas. If you want slightly cheaper, the Falken FK460 A/S also review very well. I have experience with them on an S6 in the family and they are very similar to the DWS06+ in feel.

The Michelin AS4 is the most well rounded tire.

I had AS4s on my last car, and they were very noisy. Liked them otherwise.

For my 330e, I replaced the stock run flat Pirellis with DWS06+, upsized to 235/40ZR19. I love them. More comfortable with the extra sidewall, good grip in all weather conditions from 100+ degrees to light snow. And they’re much quieter and more compliant than the AS4s.

Interesting. That’s good to know I’m sure that extra sidewall helps a lot

My car had DWS06+ on them when I bought it, and just changed them for the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 All Season.

Definitely like the Michelins better. Less noise, a bit softer, and they seem to grip better after break in. Some of that can probably be attributed to them being new.

The Michelins also have shoulders that are a bit wider, and look better on the factory wheels as a result.

Conti DWS is quite good and grippy, but soft. I used DWS on my BMW F10, Mercedes and on daily beater Toyota. Went trough 5 sets in the past 15 years. They lasted around 25-30K miles on all my cars. Good thing about DWS that they do not get noisy as you use and have softer sidewall if you want more confortable ride. On my M3 and M340 I have P4S summer tires. I do not drive them in snow sleet or when it is too cold, but if I had to I probably would choose pilot sport all season 4. DWS does not match M340’s sport character, it is more of a sport touring tire.

Michelin A/S here on a 4 GC—swapped for the Michelin summers that came on the car. Perfect for my climate (some sub-freezing temps and light snows in the winter) year-round.
