I can no longer code certain modules in BU. Anyone else experienced this?


I have a 2020 M340ix and I had the gearshift console replaced by the dealer due to the EPB not working.

They did a full update of all the s/w. I don't do any updates (even have the SIM disabled) as I am tuned. But I let them do the updates this time.

To my pleasant surprise the DME was not re-locked, so I reflashed MHD (it did a long flash) and I am back. Anyway this is a side point.

I went to program everything back to how I had it. I started with Bimmercode and did a lot of the basic coding there - no issue.

Then I went to Bimmerutility to code the more complex items. That did not work.

Using Android app - it kept crashing every time I'd try to do a backup. So I moved to Windows with an enet, and that too did not work.

I could not code certain modules - ACSM5 or DSC modules would not allow me to code - BUT BDC was fine.

I contacted BimmerUtility and they confirmed that BMW have changed the mappings and they need to make an update for it to work again.

So I am waiting on the update in order to complete my coding.

Anyone else on the latest update noticed this?

It´s time to move on an switch to EsysUltra.
It´s working, with current data and the developer has excellent customer service.

My G20 LCI was at the dealer for the Starter Motor recall. I also asked them to look at two unrelated issues - Sat Nav intermittent start-up & wipers going to Service Position whilst driving...
They found some "error codes" and consequently updated the vehicle software - it is now on 11.2025
BimmerUtility is now unable to code the HU-MGU module - so I can't fully enable Comfort+
Is the Head Unit now locked - or is BU mapping out of date?
I can see higher mapping numbers mentioned on BimmerScene - but do not know how to update BU with new mappings without waiting for a full update.
Can any one help?

I emailed BU - they said mapping needs to be updated. That was a couple of weeks ago. I emailed then a few days ago and asked when it'd be done - they said "in a few days" - so sometime around now they should be pushing out a mapping update.

But no, nothing is "locked".

I had seen some mention of 2026/3 - before my car went in for the work - so I was a bit surprised to see 2025/11 installed by the BMW system.

I know that OTA are usually one step back - but a main dealer would normally install the latest. Unless my car is no longer supported, it's iDrive 8.0
