MHD updated software gen2

Has anybody tried the updated software 4.5 for b58 gen2 I see that they added an e85 tune that wasn’t there before. Also see that we can use the antilag feature now and max cooling mode is an option that wasn’t available before. MHD+ live adjust is also an option that can be selected now.

Just flashed it, first time user of MHD+ and everything works as advertised. Flash was smooth, little confusing at first but after messing with it a little pretty straight forward. Only thing is wished they provided more options like a Stage 0 or the ability to use Stock map in one of the slots. Also have antilag set to 5PSI as I was learning how to use, will bump up as I go. Overrun brap should be coming in shortly as well heard it was in final testing. Overall great addition, MHD always pulling through!

Yes tried it.
Didn't see Max cooling mode, only intercooler which was there before.
Map switching is annoying because everytime you start it shows the map you are in and you have to hit the bc button for 2sec to get out of it. I just turned multimap off and kept it at the one map.

Also now i noticed that the dash is all plain when engine not running. No speed or rpm numbers around the gauges. Weird.

I bought MHD when they finally released the bench unlock tool and did it at home was super easy very straightforward. I love that I did this all at home on my phone!! I saw the max cooling in the MHD+ but get an error about not working either. Haven’t really messed with map switching yet or anti lag. Waiting on my gas tank to empty to run the full 85 tune!😁

The Max cooling error says the OTS map needs to be 2.21+ but my maps show they are ver 2.2. Maybe the maps still need to be updated. I tried rre-loggingand re-downloading, made no difference.

Did anyone else notice the dash is sans the numbers on speed and tach when ignition is off? I only noticed this after this upgrade and doing a flash (it did a long flash this time)

Yes, all works well now with the new update.

I find that with map switching, we (GEN 2) can only use the BC button. But when I hold it down for 2 seconds to activate map switching, it also resets the trip computer (Individual setting).

Has anyone else found that?

I wonder if we can reprogram BC button in bimmercode so it only resets the trip computer after 10 sec instead of 2 seconds.

Just flashed the new Overrun Brap feature, heads up you will lose the Shift Brap sound and it feels a little wonky when you get off the gas almost as if boost still keeps building. Not sure if they can correct it to have both but will flash back to normal OEM so I can have the upshift braps, way better than the exhaust overrun IM especially when dialed in with XHP. Also to note only short option is shown compared to the long option they had on F30's.

It’s all kinds of buggy. I reached out to them via email to see if there’s a way they can fix the issues (Like the one you mentioned and the info displays on the dash cycling when you cycle through the MHD+ menu) or remap the controls to something that makes more sense for the end-user, and they told me it’s “not possible” for them to change or modify the controls, which makes zero sense since the functionality wasn’t there in the first place and they wrote the custom code to facilitate it.

100% agree. They should easily be able to shift to another button. Hell, they could put it on the damn wiper mist function for all I care. The BC button isn’t practical at all.

And I also notice the lack of speed and tach numbers when ignition is off. Otherwise I’ve had no issues with it at all. But I will say I don’t care for anti-lag. I get the point but unless you are dialed in on your car and you have a ton of practice and run it on a track, there’s little use for it. Smashing the accelerator is pretty much the same and doesn’t stress components in the same way.

Yeah, so I emailed MHD about the BC button and the dashboard - no numbers etc. With the dash, they said they didn't change anything there - maybe its my imagination then???

With BC button they just said that's the only option. On F series you could also use the LIM button or something. Not on ours though.

Its a bit annoying resetting the trip every-time you want to use map-switch. But in all honesty, I don't use it, I have it setup but just don't use it.

Anti-lag - that is pretty taxing on gearbox, so I don't use it simply because it is too harsh on the gearbox.

Overall MHD is quite awesome. I had used another tune before and this is much better.

100% agree. Now that they’re fully integrated on flex fuel on the gen 2, there’s no getting any better. Unless, ecutek. But that’s a different story. Wasn’t about to pay that cost of admission just for some low-key daily fun. Not like I go to the track. As for anti-lag, even though I don’t use it anymore after trying it out, I’m gonna shut it off in the map so I don’t accidentally hit it while fucking with cruise control. And the BC button for reset…. If you think about it, you’re less likely to do so between fill-ups. So maybe that was what warranted them to proceed with that option. I still don’t get it but they must have their reasons. No problem for me though so little to no real world impact. I’ll deal. But the multi-map feature is by far the best thing ever. I hate having to plug in and flash in the damn parking lot of a gas station.

Yes you are absolutely right! the multi map is IT.

Just went E85 on mhd stage 2 from E40. So EZ baby. No plug in. Instant. Seems very smooth.

Ill do a quick write up review on it after few days.

Just went on e85 tune today. Ill do a write up soon.

Had 1.5 gal of 91 but filled up with 15 gal e85 so it should be good enough.

for now, it is super smooth.

Im unsure if it is more or less powerwise when compared to the e40 tune but seems about same now on a initial drive.

In any rate, can’t beat paying 2.50$ with e85 in so cal. 91 is double that here.

The E85 tune slows the car down. They have to dial back the power, as the car doesn't have enough fueling to run Full E on Stock hardware with an aggressive tune .

Exactly right. Need all of the fueling upgrades in place, and perhaps even upgraded injectors, to extract that full power of straight e85.

Yeah BM3 Map switching has been out for over a year now and is dialed in nicely. MHD BC button for map switching I don’t like one bit. But I do like MHD Motiv Reflex integration. That’s a BIG +

Do we need to reflash after every update MHD pushes? Any issues if we don't, or should we just reflash as a best practice?

I usually read what’s in the update before I do anything, but when I connect it tells me I’m using an older version basically. So I update it. I guess we can run the chance that something may not work correctly if it was working correctly before. But on the flip side they fix issues also and add features
