I do think some extensive tuning could be in the future of this car as far as exhaust is concerned, but I like how the s55 sounds...maybe not more than my s62 though. |

And the i3? It's met its initial target and it holds the best selling EV of the premium compact segment in several markets across Europe. New X3 is sold out for 6 months. 5er is the best selling executive car in the segment.

All those old m customers must have switched to buying Porsche's and AMGs. Or maybe they just stopped buying cars.

It's a game of semantics. Of course their M sales have never been higher. If you make everything an M car, you can make that claim. Like the i3 claim above, "best selling EV in the premium compact segment". When you make up a category that you dominate, you'll be #1 always. I've owned 8 BMWs in the past 14 years and my first at just 21. Not everyone can make that claim. The brand kept bringing me back for more. After the F30, The 3-series became VWs with a roundel. I daily an i3 and currently waiting for the X5 and the 8-series to debut. I hope I'm not disappointed. I've already moved on from the M3/M4 and so has everyone else I know.

I've owned 6 BMWs in the last 10 years, hands down it's the best car in the segment. I dont see myself driving a Mustang or Camaro my other option was the 911 but a $120k car that my M4 can beat with just a $3k set of coilovers and square steup, no thanks. And i havent yet had a 911 on coilovers beat my times around the track so... |

I’m new here so excuse my ignorance. I was hoping to order a F80 M3 for 2019 but from what Im hearing and have found upon searching is the F80 is ending production in 2018. So what’s going to happen for 2019 if the G80 isn’t coming out till 2020? If you want to order a M3 in early 2019 are you SOL?
Will they just not have a M3 model for 2019? Will they extend the F80 another so many months? I’m so confused. Back up plan....find an existing 2018 on a lot or order an Alfa Romeo Quadrifoglio? |

http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=901686 Basically, F80 M3 is ending production by 10/18, which is the same time when the F30 is ending prod. M4 coupe ending 06/20 and M4 vert ending 10/20. Since M3/M4 share most of the components, next gen is M3/M4 will be released sometime (6-8 months?) after 10/20. Based on historical 7 year lifecycle for M3, my best guess would be the next gen M3/M4 will be available for sale around summer of 2021

Even though US vehicle sales roughly the same as Europe combined, US gave up the crown as the biggest car market 10 years ago. Total YTD annual vehicle sales in US is around 18 Million while China is at 30 million as of now. Not to mention the car sales have plateaued in US while car sales in China have been growing rapidly every year. The car sales in China could be growing even more rapidly but they're artificially limiting car registrations since the traffic and pollution is a huge issue. That's why every car manufacturer who wants to survive and do business in China will have to make EV cars and whatnot to cater to the biggest market in the world. https://tradingeconomics.com/united-...-vehicle-sales https://tradingeconomics.com/china/total-vehicle-sales https://www.best-selling-cars.com/in...ide-car-sales/ And there is a network for charging cars right now from Tesla and it's rapidly expanding. Yes, EVs aren't going to take over overnight as EV sales only make about 1% of total vehicle sales but expect to see rapid expansion over the next few decades

And the 2series minivan sales are very impressive. I would be so proud to have such a car. It’s quite the looker and performer.

If M division developed a TT 3.2 V6, it would be so radical and it would have no direct link to any BMW engine, that it may totally screw up and lose tons of customers. Furthermore, M doesn't really do bespoked M engines any more. So for them to develop a V6, the cheapest option would require them to lop off 2 cylinders from the current M V8, and develop it from there. It just wouldn't seem worth the risk. Also, in your post before that, you said that AMG used the same engines for their cars from C to S. BMW has done the same from time to time. They took the engine from the M1 and put it in the M5 and "M6". And the S54 from the e46 M3 and put it in the Z3 M, and Z4 M. The S62 was used in the Z8 and the e39 M5. And there are probably other examples that I haven't listed. It works for Mercedes/AMG because there is less money spent on bespoked engines for each car line, and there shows a direct lineage. Kinda like Chevy and the SS line back in the 60s and 70s, and Dodge's R/T line as well. |
