Sound decision! Your LR Dual Motor would be comparable to G20 M340i xDrive in terms of performance, handling and braking. And you are getting a fully loaded LR Dual Motor for the price of a lightly equipped M340i xDrive.

And this is before accounting for the far superior Tesla tech (AP is already self driving on the highway, sentry mode, and the car keeps getting faster and just better with every OTA software update), best safety and more elegant design.

Couple of years ago, I was planning for G80 M3 AWD to be my next car. Then the 3P came along and bmw has gone completely off my radar.

Yeah I can't figure out the interest rate or the residual value from Tesla's website either. Anyone better at math able to figure it out?

I've spent a lot of time on the Tesla forums and missed the BMW community, so here I am.

Back in Dec 2017 the lease rate on our Model X was 5.65%. It is well north of 6% now to the point that financing the 3 for 72mo and $5k down is about the same as the lease after California taxes every month. Tesla leases are TERRRRRRRIBLE. We only did ours because the car was a demo and discounted by almost $50k.

I think it's because they know model 3 will depreciate more than half within 3-5 years. tesla constantly changing prices up or down, adding and removing configurations isn't helping either.

To them they are only doing what they think is right to maximize profit at any given time, but to most consumers, dropping $50K~ on a depreciating asset is always going to be an important decision, what they are doing will only make that decision harder.

i think if i'm in the market looking for a model 3, i'd wait at least until the Hardware 3.0 autopilot computers are installed standard in every new vehicle and then make a decision. or at least wait till the end of the 3750$ rebate month and see what tesla is up to then.

comparing to the latest pricing and config, my car has been hit with an OTA depreciation update of 5K

I test drove a 330 msport a month ago and found the car is quieter. But the cabin is not as nice as I expect and I do not like the guage cluster. I decided to go try out the Model 3 last week and I was impress with the technology and the drive is surprising good. Needless to say, I ended up ordering a Model 3 and can't wait till it get here.

I would have considered a Tesla, but living in Buffalo, NY; with one supercharger (20 miles from my work and apt) and none at my work or apt., along with the closest dealer/service center 3+ hours away in Cleveland, I didn't give it much consideration.

Do you find the Tesla cabin to be an upgrade over that in the g20?

in no way can the model 3's interior (material quality, not talking about design here) be considered as an "upgrade" over any entry level luxury sedan on sale right now.

EDIT: which is not to say that the model 3 is a bad car and you shouldn't buy one. i mean i own mine and i love it. just keep in mind that if interior material quality is a make or break thing for you, you'll not be happy in a model 3.

Tesla interior quality is nowhere near what German interiors are doing at similar price point. Fit and finish is not their strong suit.

I love what Tesla is doing, the innovation is unbelievable. I test drove a model 3 performance and was blown away by the acceleration. I also loved the driver assist features. But my wife and I really disliked the interior and the overall design. I ordered an M340i 10 days ago. I am betting my next car will be electric, just a matter of which OEM produces one with a design I like.

The Model 3 cabin is nice, but it is not an upgrade from any German brand. The technology in the cabin is incredible and the over the air software upgrade is priceless. Having the Model 3 for just over 3 weeks and I have zero regret whatsoever, and my Pcar has been sitting since.

That's a bold statement if you'd rather drive it over a Porsche. Which model of P-car?

Does anywone know the results of the skidpad testing on Model 3?

How about cabin noise readings compared to G20 at highway speeds? I read everywhere thst Model 3 is noisy at highway speeds, some measurements performed by Tesla owner Bjørn show a VW e-Up is at 72db at 70mph which is same as Model 3 Performance. I find it quite dissapointing tbh.

Also an e-Golf is quieter by almost 3dB at same speed.

Funny I am on the Mercedes forum and people are adding dynamat to make the car "more luxurious".

Tesla does not provide that "serene" experience imo,.but you can DIY with good results. Many YouTubers adding additional seals to their Model 3.

I bought a Model 3 performance because for same price I could get a base trim 330i so I am happy. Will report back on how it feels conpared to G20 if someone is interested.

What's your conclusion on it now?
When talking about the monthly costs, are you charging from home and/or/only superchargers?
