Hopefully someone who has taken delivery might be able to add some photos... the F8X M models have a similar cooler and they have seen a few issues with it being punctured due to insufficient shielding. Interested to know if bmw improved the shielding for this application

With all the wining going on about 340 not being high performance enough - BMW gives you parts straight from M3 for a fraction of a cost and still no love? All i can say - big brakes are amazing, wheels are good looking, Michelin Ps4s need no adverting - great deal. What i can not believe coming from several M3s - is how well this 4 wheel drive system is executed. the car can be throttle steered and drifted pretty similar to rear wheel drive car. To the point that on the test drive i had to ask my son to make sure the sticker on the window says x drive and we were not test driving rear wheel drive car. Steering is fast and heavy and very communicative for 4 x wheel drive as well. Not sure if the cooling pack makes any difference in feel - but sticky front tires do for sure. Compared to my wife's 440 x drive with PS4 s as well - the new M340 is miles ahead |

Coming from the M forums, this option would be an automatic selection. It's not expensive, you get bigger brakes, and better looking wheels. I find it amusing that people will spend as much on a driver assistance option and not this. |

By default, the car does come with staggered performance tires. non-RFT is a no-cost option, kinda, as it does require optioning a space saver spare tire. However, I think the M340i has become a little under-tired considering it has 380hp. It still has the same size tires that the E46 M3 and regular E90 cars had. |

To be fair, what’s protecting your standard radiator up front? Think of all the stones and debris thrown into the front of your car over the years. Punctures are rare.

I guess that’s a good point but I think you have more time to get the car pulled over to a safe location if your radiator is punctured. With the oil cooler you don’t have much time before the engine suffers serious damage.

Wonder if they’ll make one of these for the G20?

Any benefit in getting the Cooling and High Performance Tire Package if there is no intention in tracking the car?
I like the non-run flats and the grey 792m rims but feel like skipping it since I don't intent to track at all, will be mostly city and long distance driving. |

Yep, for normal daily driving, no real benefit... unless you just wanna say you have bigger brakes and extra cooling (which from what I've read is an added risk!)… you should be able to order the wheels separately, but they come with a space saving spare.

The stock M340i M Sport brakes are already more than big enough for any type of daily driving. The car is already probably overkill for you. Getting the ZTK package will just be a waste of money and you'll never notice it.
You can also option non-runflats without picking ZTK. It's a zero cost option with 18" wheels (you just have to add the space saver spare for $150). |

Get it even if just for the nicer wheels and larger summer tires. The summer tires alone are worth it for better traction and turn in, even on the street. If none of that is important, why not just get a 330. Better gas mileage, more than enough power, lower cost.

That said, the m340i offers benefits over the 330i, even without the cooling and tire package. Plus, it's easy enough to install high performance tires any time. |

If I get one for the wife then I'll spec whatever 19" wheels we like, try out the run flats, and if they are no bueno will buy PS4S. easy fix and no need for ZTK
