Some of us can and will eventually make the move (once I dont need a baby seat in the backseat), but I like the M3's functionality vs. a P car. I got a 1 year old and plan on having another soon. I had oscillated between a 911 Carrera S and an F80 back in 2016 but ended up with the F80 and I am so happy I did.
I can't do 911 for DD....I find it hard enough to get out of the M3 😂, and practicality issues mean I'll never drive it with my family....so only commuting with the occasional indulgence makes zero sense to me, sedan's all the way.

Thanks for the morning laugh I needed that.

When you guys say bucket seats, do you mean like the recaro option int he GT350 that fits super snug, limits adjustability, removes heated/cooled seat options, etc? If so then i understand 100% why they wouldn't offer it. I don't see how that sells to begin with, especially with the huge markup OEMs charge just to make it worth their while. maybe save it for the track prepped version but no use offering it on the standard G80. If you're that serious about it, fitting aftermarket buckes/rails/sliders is more cost effective than a $3k+ factory option.

Easily, but not cheaply, fixed with an MPE.

I am starting to like how the tails look. The car looks good in motion from behind!

The car does look good, won't dent that. But until today, I can't say the exhaust note is attentive. Sure, it's loud and aggressive, but good sounding, I wouldn't say so.

Do we know how similar the S58 is to the S55?

From the clips I've heard, the S58-equipped cars sound a lot like my F80. Whether someone thinks that's good or bad, well that's another conversation.

I don't mind the sound of the S55, but it mainly just seems worse when u compare it to the likes of Merc's glorious V8 or Alfa's V6. This is one time BMW should take a page from AMG, they tend to make better sounding exhuasts.

I think they have discovered that it is far more profitable to make an MPE for the "right" to have your M car sound louder and more aggressive...IIRC there's different exhaust tuning between the base and ZCP F80, the CS has a different muffler and tuning, and I think the M4 GTS came with the MPE (although I might be wrong about that).

Not much different that the base and S versions of the Cayman/911 come with the "base" exhaust, but the GTS gets it standard...well, at least until the 718 came along, anyway.

My aftermarket Cobra buckets cost me $3k and that is without any mounting HW. I would think $3k is a very fair price for some decent lightweight factory buckets with shoulder harness pass-through. That said, I think the option would be better suited to the M2 as I think the now supersized G80 M3 will cater more to the business crowd than the track crowd. Would still be great if they offer them for the M3 though! My guess is they still won't be anything like the M4 GTS seats... that is what I'd like to see in the M2 going forward.

I never thought that I ever like the rear configuration of new 3 series, but now with the 4 exhaust pipes and that bulging rear fenders it looks amazing.

Weren't there some spy shots for the G80 that showed seats like that?

I might be remembering incorrectly - but it would at least suggest that BMW is finally listening to those who track their M cars.

It's probably going to be an expensive option, but better to have a pricey option than none at all.

The first car in the video looked like an xi based on how high the front sat, the white car looked as if it sat significantly lower, for whatever the hell my 2 cents are worth.

I will be amazed if the M3 is torque converter auto only. Never thought I would see the day. They could redeem themselves by selling the next gen M2 with the S58 from the get go with a manual transmission.

BMW would've never decided on this design language if their research showed I'm the one and only person who would like it.
