Must ask, what are you wanting to change about the suspension? |

I want to remain in eco-pro mode... with the adaptive suspension activated. Think of it this way— in Sport Individual, you can have Sport + throttle & comfort dampers So, why can we not have eco throttle & adaptive dampers. |

However the fact remains... the additional adaptive option is for the suspension... Not anything else. But that's not the way it works/programmed. |

Why on earth would you want any other suspension setting other than comfort when in Eco pro mode? Moreover why on earth would you ever drive in eco pro mode? :

I'm wondering the same thing, particularly with the post mentioning it being the first non M-car as daily driver in over a decade.

2) I drive to work at 0400.. quiet, boring drive and not quite awake. 3) I bought this car to be my commuter car. I just want to have a taste of excitement once in a while on the drive home. True excitement (within my means) is with my other cars. 4) Am I allowed to have my personal preferences? For others that may have the same interest, I was messing around with some coding.. I think I'm getting close to solving it. |

Can you tell a difference? You do know that adaptive mode IS comfort suspension with the automated ability to change to sport, right? The adaptive suspension is always "adaptive" but adaptive mode allows it to move between comfort and sport automatically based on driving factors.
Adaptive mode just feels like comfort mode to me unless I really pick up the pace. Also, eco pro will save you what, 1-2 mpg? That's like $2.50 a fill up. Why not just drive the car in adaptive mode all the time if you like that setup? |

You have intermittent reading, just like wipers. 1) If adaptive is just like comfort...never mind, you won't get it. 2) Does it seem like I'm doing this to save money? I gave a reason (specific) why I was looking into this... did that reason somehow come across to you as I couldn't afford to fill up my $70,000 COMMUTER CAR? |

M Adaptive Suspension is a $700 option for a vehicle suspension full stop Why does an independent setting for the suspension change the drive modes? There are separate buttons for the drive modes. |

Not trying to be a dick here just trying to help sort out how this car works. Personally I don't see any point in driving in eco pro mode except to save money so forgive me if I assumed you were a penny pincher. Seems no more or less comfortable and easy to drive in eco pro vs comfort for commuting but it is more frustrating to drive in eco pro.
But getting back to what you want "to adjust the suspension and not the motor/trans"... you don't get to manage the suspension settings outside of the drive modes. Full stop. Including adaptive mode is just another drive mode and the suspension adjustments are a fixed program in that mode, most accurately as an "auto" setting where the car makes the decision for you. You have all drive modes, not suspension modes. The adaptive suspension option just adds a suspension component to those drive modes and you don't get to manage them. The only way you get to determine your suspension separately from the drive mode is in the Sport Individual setting. You may want the "auto" suspension mode in other drive settings but that's only available in adaptive (full auto) drive mode. If you bought the adaptive suspension option hoping it would be like an M car, well it's not. But M cars don't have eco pro mode either. |

Because that is how it is designed to work. Adaptive Mode, is a separate driving mode, is an 'overlapping' mode working between Comfort and Sport, according to how you drive and with additional SatNav predictive input.

Once you read what's on BMW's website (right now-from photo)....Now that you see how BMW explains this option... Please explain to me what makes you think you guys are correct in says it's an additional drive mode. Seriously.... all it says in short are these words: Suspension Air Cushioning Rear Axle No where does it mention anything at all about any other system on the car. |

So... actually you guys are right... it's clearly a different drive mode (because what that button changes with the car)
What's 100% wrong is how BMW sells/markets/describes it. |

Press the Eco Pro button and on the screen you should get an option to 'Configure individual', then you can select to have the dampers in sport setting. That's how my UK spec works anyway!

I think you're missing exactly what the adaptive suspension is. It's always adaptive. All you can manually change about it is if you want the valving of the dampers to be set for comfort or for sport.
If you're talking about the adaptive button on your centre console, this isn't directly related to the suspension. This is an adaptive driving mode that changes all characteristics of the car automatically. It continually adapts all the settings to suit the current driving situation independent of the selected driving mode. |
