Subaru's several years ago, 2 JDM STi's and a couple of Type UK STi's all between 2003 and 2008. The 2.5 engine after the original 2.0 is what killed Subaru for me otherwise I'd still be driving them. Best drivers cars I've ever had, massive all weather all surface capabilities

Drove my modified E46 till 2016, by then it had accumulated almost 200k miles. Sold it and leased a 2016 Lexus IS200T. The turbo 4 dulls the experience with my first Toyota product due to the horrible turbo lag. It's also why I shunned away from the 330i and got the 6 cylinder since I knew the inline 6 wouldn't disappoint.

Interesting - I've read that Golf Rs are a great driver's car, that they drive like go-carts, with their power, haldex and size.

My previous car was a 2016 M3

No doubt the R exhaust note is what sold the car for me. It is thunderous and made me smile everytime. I have never had a car that got the attention and compliments the R inspired from others. Good driver too.

I got rid of it for several reasons:

- a bit too rough riding for daily commutes through what has become a construction nightmare here in my city

- my warranty was due to expire in Feb 2020. Nobody wants a 100k Jag out of warranty

- a few pricey service items were coming up

- leather headliner was separating from the roof and the sunshade slider broke ($5,000 fix according to dealer, $3500 from independent shop)

- leather dash started to peel (reportedly a $5k to $6k fix as well)

- I wanted something more comfortable yet smooth and fast. M340i xdrive fit the bill.

2016 Lexus IS200t F-Sport.

Lacked power but other than that was really reliable.

I always had Subaru's as daily drivers until my local BMW dealer came super close to my Subaru lease payments on a 535 so I got rid of the Sub. I had no intention getting another BMW as a daily until I saw the new G30 then the M340.

For what I need this car for, 3.6R Legacy sedan always delivered as long as I kept it under 80mph

now: M340 and 2013 LR4

Prior to M340: F30 340, F30 335, E90 335, 08' 135i. I'm not very original.

Prior to LR4: 2017 Colorado ZR2, 2005 997 C2, Saab 9-2x (WRX).

I like having two cars to myself. Wife has the "aircraft carrier"; a silver Suburban.

When I was young with no $$: 1985 Ford Mustang 4cyl. 1988 MX6 Turbo. 2003 Focus ZX3

M340 is the fastest of all of them. LR4 is the smoothest and neediest. 997 is the one I wish I never sold. The MX6 was the biggest sleeper of the bunch; I used to surprise Integras and Civic SIs regularly.

I originally got it as my weekend/fun car while having a 330i lease as my daily. I don't wanna lease anymore and the m2 is a bit too harsh/not practical as a daily. It also wasn't being driven much so I thought it's kind of a waste to have.

The m340 combines the best of both. Comfort of the 3 series with the power of the m2

I can already tell you based on the 2 test drives with the m340. The m340 pulls just as hard as the m2 (n55) did. Handling and grip level is not as high in the m340 but it's good enough and it's a lot more comfortable.

I'm expecting my specific m340 to handle better than the ones I test drove though since I couldn't find a m340 with the adaptive suspension and non run flats to test drive
