just do some research dude. you are wrong by meaning aftermarket suspensions are less comfi. mostly every k&w kit and also the eibach pro kit's lower your car without loosing comfort. if you go with KW you get more comfort and lower at the same time.

i did this with many cars... i used kw, lowered and raised comfort because kw knows his biz.

sure, if you go with cheap stuff you wont get better comfort. you must know what you do.

Again we must ask if it's comfortable or tolerable like the other poster said. Lower ride right, even with softer Springs decreases travel which compromises the ride quality to a degree. Regardless, it's those who get lowering Springs and increase harshness I'm talking about. Lots of people talk about comfort and noise then proceed to swap Springs and exhausts sometimes go catless. They say it's more comfortable to sit in yet it's got the same interior dimensions. I'm not saying that the M cars are superior in all categories, they're not. I've had 3 non-M 3 series prior. I loved them. However, when someone says "who needs an M3" or the 3 series is more comfortable yet mods away the comfort, I have to say something.

This is pretty inaccurate... KW V2 or the Bilstein B6 perhaps, dialed into a more comfortable setting, which means higher ride height btw, but all the other kits you mentioned? Your vehicle is lowered and stiffer as the poster above mentioned. Reducing ride height also reduces "travel" of suspension... The "travel" is what gives a ride the comfort... Think Lexus when you think of comfort and ride height... Lexus usually feel like you're riding on a pillow, but you surely will not handle like a bmw... I'm not talking about LFA, I'm comparing 3 series to IS or 5 series to GS...

What is used to do the timing like that? Is it an app on your phone or a separate device?

Agreed. Rather my F80 all day long.

Agreed....once you own an F80 you would understand the reason for it. No regrets. Now I do concur the Awd in the new G80 will be a game changer. I'll wait, the new distinctive look of the G80 is growing on me. Grill included.

Indeed, I got to thrash one around during the UDE. very impressed, but not as close to being raw as I would like. The most impressive non-M 3 series to date next to the e90 335is.

The grill is growing on you? For reals?

The f80 kidneys look waaaaaay better, front end "GF80" conversions will be a real thing.

As I don't like the grill on the new M3/4 the Alpina B3 seems to be my persona solution.

I thought that thing only came in coupe and vert form?

Regardless, that car was the tits back then... Probably still fun to drive around, especially considering most are gonna be modded by now...

Sure. Regardless, Any M car is just tuned differently than the base model where comfort/ride quality is sacrificed. When people say there's little to no difference in comfort, what they're really saying is I don't mind it and can tolerate it so it makes no difference to me.
True. It makes little sense though when someone says they got a 3 series for comfort then gets aftermarket suspension.
+1

I deluded myself too until I just gave in and got the M. Never looking back, but I respect the game, and I had fun modding/tuning like that too

The biggest issue with getting an M3 over and M340i is the fact that you can't buy an M3 and likely won't be able to for 18 months.
For me there is no comparison between a car that exists and one that doesn't. Sure you can get a second hand with 7 year old tech but not something I would compromise with for a daily driver.

Hey all! Thanks for taking the time to check out my car. First off, I really don't do anything on forums, so I apologize if I break any rules or etiquette. I was made aware of this thread, which is why I created an account and decided to jump in.

I'll quickly address the car: I started with JB4 and nothing else. I then quickly switched to a custom tune by Eurodynamic Tuning, BMS intake, and VRSF downpipe. We've been testing what we can in order to keep the car as nice of a daily driver as possible (I drive at least 60 miles per day), while making as fun as possible.

In reference to the who needs an M3 comment(s): The answer is easy... I do! I fully plan on ordering a G80 when the allocations come out. My wife and I purchased 3 new BMWs last year, and two of them are "M40" models (M340 and X3 M40). I love the car, and I can't really find stuff "wrong" with it, but there's still room for things that I want more of, and that's where the G80 comes in.

The M340 is a great step into high end performance at mid-range cost, and I think that's where the comparisons need to be made. It's not an M car, but it's a good car.

I feel like the whole “old tech” thing is vastly overblown. I have a 2018 F80 and a 2020 X3 M40i and the tech differences aren’t enough to be significant for me to notice. There’s prettier graphics on the dash but it still overall feels like last gen’s interface. Get the new G series for the updated looks, xdrive, and having a newer year model, but the tech reason isn’t noticeable to be an impact on a decision, IMO. Also the driving dynamics of a M vs a 3 series should far outweigh any tech differences. For a daily however, a M might be not as comfy which is another valid reason, again moreso than the tech argument.

Why would you need to modify an M3?
You've never changed the sprockets or gearing on your crotch rocket? Oil catch can? Frame sliders? Air filters? Puig double bubble windscreen? Different rubber/fluids? Shorty levers? Not much out there faster than a sport bike but we still modify those too...

You just do, I guess... I can't tell you last two or four wheel vehicle I've left unmolested... It just makes it more your own I suppose...
I'm a moto guy too. Mostly off road though. I modify and add parts to all my bikes. It is almost a must. Even with my "ready to race" KTM's. I spent 2k on my brand new KTM 1090R adventure bike before it even left the dealership lol. . I'm 61 and have modified every performance car I have ever owned. Until my most recent 2018 M3 CS. This car is perfect (IMO) in both performance setup and appearance. I will not be doing a single thing to it. Refreshing for me to be honest. Now if I was more concerned with a daily and comfort than I was all out performance the M340 with a tune would be better. IMO.
