If BMW was so confident in this grille they would have put it on the new 3 series instead of the lower volumes M3/4 and 4 series.
It's coming to the 3 series don't you worry. Bmw just debut on M3 and 4

Being late to the game, the trend is likely to change, sooner than later, leaving the landscape littered with horrendous looking, big-mouthed M cars screaming for attention.
But the R8 looks like a dime, yet has a large grill. Explain this.

Not even close. A large grille is not a bad thing necessarily but it needs to be implemented into the overall design well. This thing looks tacked onto the front end and it's angles look like a 4 year old drew it up.

To be real though, the angles are only envisioned by a rendering at this point... extrapolated from the tape....the real design could be better than this - we could hope - but probably not

If there is a need for that much air-intake than ok. But if there's not, what the F is going on at Bavaria Motor Works?

The kidney grill size is absolutely ridiculous.

I'm not worried in the slightest about the new 4's future.
I did buy a Porsche.

Hopefully it looks better in the flesh, but the pictures are not doing it much, if any, justice.
Porsche will seriously be getting more than you as a customer...

Catch a grip

Some quotes from further up this post

"I'll save you guys the agony of reading any further. Every post after this is gonna be some variation of: "Ugly as hell. They must have been smoking crack when they designed that grille. I'm so glad I've got an F32 cause I'll never buy another BMW again."

"I'd rather not have kidneys than own a BMW without kidney grilles."

Catch a grip guys. In two years time you'll be thinking how great the new face is and will forget how wrong you were, and you will be buying one.

It is high time they fired this Adrian Honeybadonkey guy. Jesus tapdancing Christ, he took a dump on the 4 series. Meanwhile, Mercedes, Audi and Porsche are on fire with their latest designs.

You call other people sheep who will end up buying it, but it's you that's out here being BMW's lawyer and defender. People have a right to not like something and you have the right to shut the hell up and accept that not everyone shares your opinion. If anything YOU are the sheep.

And no, i wont be buying the 1 series, 2 Gran Coupe or this 4 series. I recently saw the new 1 series on the street and wanted to pull my eyes out of their sockets. It's THAT ugly.

Except Audi can pull it off. An RS5 is a stunningly beautiful car.

The G8X, not so much.
Damn right Audi does big grilles right..

Facetious criticism aside, I just can't put my finger on it but BMW's beaver-face grille just doesn't work at all.. :

I suspect that after it bombs on the M3/4 and 4 series BMW will have to modify it before it sees the light of day on the 3 series.
