Have you guys with the JB+ and JB4 ever thought about switching your chargepipe because I've heard of many people w Jb+ and JB4 on their F gen cars switching their Chargepipe because they often can't take the extra boost?
They probably don’t need to switch it out with a JB+. Even map 1 of JB4 is a low boost map. I think this issue was only with older F gen cars with the N20 engine and earlier B46 engines? Apparently they changed it in the later models and it doesn’t crack or break now.

Has anyone experienced some fan noise going on in the engine bay after installing JB+? After plugging in the tune there is a noise I've never heard before coming from under the hood.

When do you hear it? When the car is running or after you’ve parked it somewhere?

Heard it after I had parked. It lasted probably about a minute or two and then went away. No errors showing up or anything so far.

I've had that after pushing the car to its limits. The grills also remain open to cool the car down I think. We're you pushing the car or driving it in heat?

Probably the fan helping the engine cool down after. I don’t think I’ve heard it in my 330i but I hear it in my Audis.

Hmm that's what I figured but weird its the first time I heard it. I've definitely pushed it harder before installing the jb+ but never heard it.

Jb+ is only at the noon position too so didn't think it would be pushing the car much harder than stock.

You may think you pushed it harder before installing the JB+, but in reality your engine could be under significantly more stress pushing it at 70-80-90% of what you pushed before installing the JB+.

quick question for the lazy: would it be possible to get the quick and dirty pros and cons of the JB+?

Pros:
- Very affordable ($200)
- Best bang for buck performance gains
- Easy installation; plug and play product

Cons:
- May be less reliable than other performance tuning options (Only alters boost sensor parameters to achieve power gain, by tricking ECU to think it is operating in high altitude surroundings).
- Car becomes noticeably more jerky around low speeds and rpm ranges.

Wdym less reliable? Like more risky for the car engine?

Weirdly enough, I found the car to feel slightly smoother with the JB+ even though I expected it to feel jerkier. It was probably because I had gotten used to the car being jerky?
I remember driving around in comfort mode when the car was stock because sport made it feel jerky. With the JB+ and JB4, I could/can drive it around easily in sport mode.

It doesn’t do it in normal conditions, but try going on the highway for some spirited driving, go back to local speeds (20-35mph) and you’ll see what I mean. There’s a lot of jerk when the car is fully warmed up with JB+.

Ahh. I think that jerkiness was present even when the car was stock. I kinda hated it, especially coming from the A4 that was extremely smooth and refined.

Yeah both stock and JB+ did that. Does the JB4 fix this problem at all? Or is it still jerky like the other two options?

The JB4 is definitely smoother than JB+. I drive around only in sport individual (when I’m not alone) or sport plus (when I’m alone) now. With the stock car, it was almost always in comfort because the car felt a little too jerky in sport mode (jerky not in a good way) even for me. The JB4 definitely makes it easier to drive around in town in sport plus with the transmission in M/S (it’s jerky (jerky in a good way) in sport plus but very smooth in sport/sport individual).

But when I was running the JB+, I remember it being smoother than stock. So much so that I could actually enjoy the car in sport mode. Personally, compared to stock, I think both JB+ and JB4 are better, even for smoothness. I’m pretty sure BM3 will be much better since it’s a proper tune.

BM3 and JB4 I think are very similar, unless we get into reliability, I think performance wise, both are very good. What it does to the car and how it makes the car feel is probably very similar between the two.

Performance wise both might be very similar. But I believe the tune makes the car smoother since it changes everything across the rpm band. With the piggyback, the change is only after the turbo spools up. Before that, it feels just like stock. In a car with a tune, it probably feels faster than stock even before the turbo spools up.

Just ordered it from Extreme Power House any critical steps I need to do when installing, outside of plug and play?

I didn’t disconnect the battery. All I did was unlock the hood, lock the car and put the key away from the car for 5 minutes. Plugged it in and that was it.

I got mine the nose definitely lifts at the mid range. I am curious how much strain it is placing on the turbos.
