I've seen several people asking about the metallic in Dravit. Some say they can see hints of various colours while others say it's definitely just gold.
I just took these closeups of my car in direct sunlight. Interestingly you can see both green, red, yellow, orange and some blue. I'm no man of science, but I'm guessing it's some sort of prism effect. And while those colours are definitely there, when you step back, the overall effect is definitely gold/brass/copper depending on the light. One of the pictures is blurry but that turned out to show up the colours even more clearly. |

I have been considering three colours for my 320d, Dravit Grey among them. It looked fantastic in the pictures I have seen on the internet. The other two were Portimao Blue and Sunset Orange.
My strong suggestion is to try to see DG in person and in dull weather. It has two personalities. It is fantastic in good light (sunshine), but really dull and flat in overcast. Since I don't get so many sunny hours where I live, I went with Portimao. There is one G20 in DG in my town and I still have to see it shine, since everytime I encouter it, it's either rain or overcast. On the other hand, Portimao looks great in any weather, and in flesh looks even better than in photos. |

I just saw my car @ dealer and for the sake of god I do not see same color as in the most pictures in thread, looked from all directions and it is mostly dark gray.
Is it possible that color is random, depending on how metal flakes align? I expected it to be lighter in the sun. |

yeah it is directional. You can look at car with sun behind and get one colour then walk along car and look back 180 degrees and be completely different. Awesome.

I drove to Fairfax to see a Portimao blue 340 and they had this Dravit Grey on the lot. This is the first one I have seen in person and fell in love with the color. I tried to justify 2k for a color is not worth it but its on build sheet now. Just waiting for the 21 model to hit.

This is my 330i Dravit. No regrets at all about colour.
When it is no direct sun light it is mainly solid grey. However, as it is a dark colour, I think it is important protect it with a ceramic coating. |
