Have been looking at buying a 2020 M340i optioned with metallic paint and the visibility package. If anyone can share the price they paid for a similar spec that would be very helpful. Any advice appreciated. Thanks

I'm in NSW pricing is not the same as QLD , you have Higher taxing Labour government so your stamp duty is much higher. I'm about to take delivery, if you want to know price PM. I don't want to post on here. |

I’m in Adelaide and taxes may be different where you live. I ordered my M340 in Sunset Orange with: Exclusive package: full Merino leather and a few other bits that I can’t remember. Fine wood trim. Visibility package (sunroof and lasers). M-Tech package (bigger brakes and cooling). Tyre pressure monitor. OEM aero (CF rear spoiler, front splitter and rear diffuser). Drive Recorder. Price on road: $ 118,000. I recently saw a new demo (41km) on sale for $ 109,900. I think it had the visibility package, but I’m not sure if it had any other packages added. Hope this helps.

A 6 cyl car costing say $105K in QLD is $5775 same in NSW will be $4350. God help you if the same car is 8 cyl in QLD is $6300, NSW still $4350. I don't think you can buy a new 340 Xdrive for $100k but maybe i'm wrong. |

A while back one of the car sites did a comparison, I can’t find it, but I think ACT was the cheapest for stamp duty, for some sort of typical car. |

It is, but in VIC they have a higher rate of stamp duty for vehicles over $100k or something... cough double tax... As someone else said, there's an additional $5k just for going $1 over the threshold. And this is in addition to other on road costs!

I like that in Qld I'd get much lower duty off because I bought a hybrid. That's my kind of thinking |

There are a varying number of factors when it comes to the purchase price, this is purely based on my personal experience, and I hope it helps you in finding the best deal. I typically aim to land at around 10-15% off the list price (after adding all options, and before any trade in). This has worked for me with both Audi and BMWs, though keep in mind there are certain dealers such as Porsche that are not fond of entertaining discounts.
Some advice: -Shop around several dealers, and leave your closest dealer till last -It more or less comes down to your ability to negotiate (start by negotiating after you have spec'ed all the options needed, always use the final price of the vehicle for negotiation, and not based on the value with a trade in or a lease figure as it will simply confuse you more and most importantly don't be afraid to walk) -look at the dealer's stock level if possible, it's all about supply and demand (i.e. the market for M340i is substantially smaller, so if there is a high amount of stock, the dealer will likely be more aggressive to sell) -if you are ordering a new vehicle from factory, your discount level will likely be lower than purchasing one available from their inventory -take advantage of sale events (e.g. EOFY, end of month) -leverage corporate benefits if available (complimentary servicing, reduced dealer delivery charge, etc.) -the more options you add = more room for negotiation (but to be honest, the standard M340i is already very well optioned in Australia, and to OP's point the metallic paint + visibility package is probably all you need in my opinion) -and a bit of patience & luck, you may be talking to a sales rep who has already made their quota, i.e. they will be less inclined to give you a deal, so either go back in several weeks or speaking with another rep might work in your favour Good luck! An additional ploy to use is to test drive the opposition cars and mention that you really like them. Point out the good features of the cars and tell your salesman that you are seriously considering one of them........you could also add that your wife really likes the styling of the opposition’s car.

As of June Bmw have increased the base price of the M340i (non pure) by $4k therefore if it is a 2020 build it sounds like you got a pretty good deal! |

It is indeed. Ordered Feb 2020, built in Munich March 2020 and delivered end of June. So, old price.

My dealer at the time said "how could we just charge you more after a deal is made? It wouldn't be called a deal" - which I thought was nice but also the norm. Based on all these recent price hikes, I'm way better off buying the car when I did (order Dec 2019, build Jan 2020, delivered Apr 2020). |

I just ordered a 2023 M340i xdrive fully loaded through a broker, I have been informed my delivery charges are $6000. Being a Veteran, I don't pay GST on the first $60000, no stamp duty or registration, just the plates and greenslip.
So what is the average charge for delivery and where does the $6000 come from? |

I considered using a broker when I ordered by M340i LCI back in mid Nov 22, but decided to negotiate with a local dealer to get a similar price to what the broker could get. From memory the dealer delivery was around $1250. Another reason for not going through a broker, is that I qualified for the BMW corporate program so also got 3 yrs free servicing. |
