What if the G22 grill were smaller?
I really like the new design direction.

I agree. I prefer the larger grill over the small grill rendering.

Pretty nasty for the 4 looks like a 1970s grill grafted on a 2020 car and cooling will be an issue, could work as an i4 LCI though to make it more EV/Tesla like

Both options provided here look bad to me.
However, this photo I saved from zarehs27 is gorgeous. zarehs27 brought back the kink and applied the M235i GC bumper to the 4-series body.

The problem is this is a brand new generation. They needed to do something other than updating the front bumper and making the grill 10% bigger. I'm still not sold on it honestly. I think the grill needs to like 20-30% smaller than it currently is while still being noticeably larger than the outgoing model. I'll wait until the 4GC comes out, I'm still rocking my F30 for at least another 12-18 months or I'll check out a late model F80

Nice effort but I think I like the factory look better. That said, to me all of the BMW grills of late need some help. They all have too much junk in them or are only half open and look too fake.
I’m actually good with the shape of the new G22 grill and placed deposit on an allocation. Definitely a new take on tradition. I just think it needs to be black without those silly silver studs, maybe vertical ribs instead of mesh, or maybe smaller diamond mesh like the Caddy CT5-V. I’ll be buying performance or aftermarket to dress it down. |
