And yet here you are, wasting your time complaining about a "boring, uncompetitve" sport that you say you wont be watching.

The status quo may not have changed for this season from last year, but I think there is plenty to be excited about. I for one am happy the season is about to start.

Last time was in 1993 with Prost being the winner in a Williams-renault and Senna second in a McLaren-ford. A great location disrupted at times with the country's apartheid policy at the time.

It would be nice to hold it there but SA is clearly dangerous now as is Brazil with regards to car jackings and gun crime so this needs to be taken into account.

My UKM5 friend -
I saw Peter Revson drive the McLaren Can-Am car powered by an aluminum block 427 Chevy with Hilborn stack injectors at Riverside International Raceway (and his teammate Denny Hulme) in the late 60's.

Additionally, I saw Peter finish 5th driving a McLaren at the 1970 inaugural California 500 Indy Car race at Ontario Motor Speedway in SoCal.

Peter succumbed to a horrific shunt at Kyalami -
Revson was killed during a test session on 22 March 1974, before the 1974 South African Grand Prix in Kyalami. While driving the Shadow DN3, he suffered a front suspension failure and crashed heavily into the Armco barrier on the outside of "Barbecue Bend". The car stood on its nose, wrapped itself around the barrier and caught fire, and although safety workers and other drivers managed to pull Revson from the wreckage, he was already dead.

Yes my friend,Revson's front suspension failure for no reason was almost certain the cause of the late Niki Lauda's fiery double impact crash at the Nurburgring two years later.

My friend -
I didn't know that Niki's life altering shunt was related to mechanical failure.

The car components were pummelled but it was the only logical conclusion with him taking the left bend then skewing straight on into the barrier or a sudden deflation of o/s/f tyre may have been the culprit. The pictures are grainy from then.

A protest by the RB team against the Merc das system may be on the cards but probably not at the Ostereichring,RB's home race. Dr Marko said the priority was to organise the race safely and also as it's the first race this year after being cancelled at Melbourne with all the teams present there, commenting that the protest may be considered for later.
An intelligent move by RB I think also giving the benefit of seing themselves as well as the other teams if in fact the das is all it's cracked up to be or just a gimmick that will give arm ache over a race distance.
