Using a USB 256GB stick for playing music (iDive 7)

Does anyone have experience with the use of 256GB USB sticks for playing music? I am especially curious if the music continues after restarting the car with the song it was palying the last time.
I have understood from other reports that this is not the case when using sticks larger than 128GB.

The iDrive 7 will offer an option to move everything or select tracks to the Hard drive (Music Collection)
than it definitely will restart from the moment you turned car off.

128 GB works just fine. I haven't tried larger than that.
