An intelligent move by RB I think also giving the benefit of seing themselves as well as the other teams if in fact the das is all it's cracked up to be or just a gimmick that will give arm ache over a race distance.

Wew all the outers are glued/cemented into place, it was the hardest with a lot of diamond wheel cutting in the garage, corners, chop off's,nips etc but firmly in place now and the kitchen is LOCKED,no one enters. Later finishing off the grouting on the outers... and tomorrow morning clearing up the kitchen and prepare the extension for the same thing, will be much easier as straight kerbing,no kitchen units etc
Now...what's all this about Merc 1-2 in practice ??

Protest against DAS

Red Bull team has lodged protest against DAS (dual axis system) legality used by Merc ahead of the race. I was mentioning it yesterday and Dr.Marko must have seen my post!
Christian Horner has said he would be seeking clarification from FIA as the two Mercs were seen today in practice using the system...and being one-two as a result.

Mercedes’ Dual Axis Steering ‘DAS’ system has been declared "LEGAL" by the FIA Stewards following a formal protest lodged by Red Bull .

A bold try by Newey and Monaghue my friend arguing that the system was a means of adjusting the aerodynamic characteristics of the car and that it was a part of the suspension system but stewards deemed though it's an unusual steering system it could not be seen as part of the suspension though at speed in my opinion there would be some advantage with the toe in reducing drag.
Nevertheless, notwithstanding a broken front wing RB should improve in quali.
*To add in view of consistency,RB wanted to use some wheels previously but were banned by fia then Merc used a similar design later and that was passed by fia.

My friend it could be the ace card for Max, the fronts on the Merc wear less but the rears quicker on the softs.

I know my friend , but...
2 stops for MAX on mediums .
3 stops for the Mercs on softs (not sure with DAS)

Regarding the Mercs DAS it's really hard to make predictions in this first race of the season .
By this I mean : Perhaps the Mercs can do it also with 2 stops on softs , supported by the DAS advantage ...

DAS is everywhere , even before the race has begun...

Boring races again , approved by the FIA !
But I heard , tomorrow MAX is ready for a Dog Fight with "DAS" !

His chance is at the start but Merc with softs have slightly better grip advantage but more chance of clutch bog down if one of them gets it wrong.Max with mediums has less chance of bog down with more 'give' there and it's more likely Bottas will get it wrong than Ham.
