It is sad that you had to explain this to this guy. I also wonder if he even knows how the M xDrive works.

RWD isn't worth squat if you're spinning the tires all day.. This was a weakness of the F8X.
He is talking RWD competition model with ZF8. No AWD offered in the first year.

The F10 M5 was already soulless and numb before AWD though. If you are going to go that route, might as well add AWD.

Not the most exciting video for sure, but it did offer a couple new insights. Certainly nothing for people to get a whinny and bitchy about. This forum sometimes becomes like web based road rage.

Tough Crowd

My take aways:/

1) Wider tyres and wheels sounds promising
2) Configurable brakes like M8
3) I need those gloves in my life. Driving, taking pizza out of the oven, all bases covered.
4) Seats look superb and Silverstone looks on the roster

i dont think i see this.. i read this, i went back to look at recent m4comp (US) spy photos and i saw same kink as original 4er.. look again, and zoom in, maybe you'll see that it was optical "error"... it will be veryyy odd, both by looks and financial aspect, to have different kinks

Not sure what there is to complain about? This a video that pre-views the track improvements. The head of M development confirms that the car is significantly more powerful, stable and capable of higher lateral acceleration. Music to the ears of anyone looking for a faster track car. Tell any racing driver this including F1 drivers and they will be over the moon.

You guys miss out on the very interesting information and insight into the specs and philosophy behind the new generation.
Oh we got it just right. Wider tires and subsequent suspension adjustment to wider tires. Thus more grip up front. Fine tuning driveability. That is about it.

What is missing compared to the last generation:
1. No mention of lighter weight chassis/drivetrain.
2. No mention of faster, more precise and consistent gearshifts
3. No mention of sharper engine response or race engine like characteristics.
4. How much more of a driver’s car this is.

Reputable tuners do a better job in outright track performance. So what is so special about M brand now? No innovative technology or exciting race car like prowess mentioned.

Can't agree more.

0-60-120 is easy and what's mainstream. Heavy car? Just compensate with more power.

I'm mod-centric too, but on wheels, tires, brakes, suspension and aero.
I much rather go into the twisties than do launches at stop lights.

Then, get the cars on the track, and for most people, these cars today have more than enough power stock for them to exceed their skill level.

My plan had been to retire after this M5 launched, but suddenly I had a new adventure.

We need engineers who want to do crazy projects, and the bean counters who will let them.

A weakness 😳 My heart of BMW-fan bleeds when reading this. We’re heading towards an era in which a M is an AWD that sounds bad, looks bad, but all is good as it will do 0-100 as fast as a Tesla. Oh joy.

There is an M3/M4 with RWD and MT.
There is an M3/M4 with M x-drive and 8SportAT.
There are some people who like to complain no matter what the manufacturer will bring to the market. This is the hilarious part!

Numerous front axle mentions, not at all a weak point of the F8X gen. Pay attn, giving a sneak preview of driving dynamics here...

They're going to load up this front axle with enormous, unprecedented stick. Would have made the car too tail happy historically, but M xDrive fixes that, will keep the back end reasonably in check.

The result will be M car+ levels of turn in and mid corner grip, and GT-R type exit traction.

Car won't be a lame performer. Novice drivers will feel heroic. Fun and challenge factors tbd.
