My car is a March 2020 build for the UK and had the 2020.03 software installed. I also have the Driver Assistant Pro option. As I already had the Tesla mode view enabled from factory, I didn’t have to follow the first part of the video, I just needed to make the Lane Change Assistant changes. What I used: - Laptop running windows 10 - had to buy a USB-C to Ethernet adaptor as it didn’t have a built in port. EsysX doesn’t support VM’s so ruled out using my MacBook running a Windows VM. Didn’t want to attempt it and lock my license! - OBD2 Cable £12.95 https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01F8J2E3S/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 - EsysX Standard €120 https://esysx.com/product/esysx-32-64-bit/ - Esys https://mega.nz/file/B15hSAYS#RNXVUE...92LxsS7ViJsGd8 - psdzdata files kindly provided by shawnsheridan Installation: - Installed EsysX, excluded the advised folders from virus scanner and activated via IspiHostAdmin. - Installed Esys into default folders - Installed psdzdata files into the corresponding folder under C:\data - In IspiHostAdmin, pointed 64-bit config at the Esys folder Coding: - ** KEY POINT ** - I’ve read coding should be done with the engine running EXCEPT when coding DME/DDE CAFD where engine must be off else you could cause corruption (doesn’t apply to the Lane Change Assist as it doesn’t require changes to these - I think Auto Start/Stop does) - Connect OBD2 cable to car and laptop - Launch Esys via the desktop shortcut installed by EsysX - Click okay to accept defaults - If not sure of your ISTAP version, I used this to confirm I was 2020.03 (not sure, but you might be okay as long as the one you select is newer?). Link not allowed so google “bmw coding f46 how to check your cars istap version” and it should be the first hit. - Click the connect icon as shown in the video, you just need to then choose the right ISTAP software version (for me it was the one containing “S18A_20_03” without DIRECT) and then select VIN option (should auto-populate your cars VIN) and connect. From there it’s as per video. Additional point - looks like the newer version of Esys has a couple of changes from the video. When you go to Edit the config, you no longer have an xml type name, it just has Edit FLP. Also when you go to commit the change, it has a Code FLP button where the video has Code NCD. After enabling today, I took a drive on a dual carriageway in quite poor weather with a lot of surface spray. I was really impressed with how it performs. For me, this isn’t about hands free driving, it’s exactly as described - an assistance system (how Tesla gets away with using Autopilot in the UK/EU baffles me!). The combination of DAP with Lane Change Assist just makes motorway journeys more relaxing and perhaps a bit safer. |
