Never bought this before, but having had to splash out £320 for a new rear tyre within 1 week of owning the new car; having had 4 punctures in the last car and a cracked wheel (pot hole), I've decided I probably should.

Happy with BMW's quote for c£420 for up to 5 tyres in 2 years to max. £300, but it is only tyres.

Before I go ahead, any recommendations for better (not necessarily cheaper), and anything that picks up wheel damage as well?

EDIT: Found a firm called Total Loss Gap which provides for up to 4 new tyres & up to 4 alloy repairs per year for 2 years for £317. Anyone use this company? Any good?

I’ve used these for mine. Fantastic service. And they say on their website who they use for repairs - all of them are the top companies in the UK like DA Techs and Perfection Alloys. They are also happy to allow you to take repairs to your own preferred repairer, and will simply pay towards the cost up to the value they would pay one of their own repairers.

Needs to be taken up within 30 days of purchase, and age restrictions on the vehicle at time of inception and a 30 day waiting period.

I thought this sounded like a great deal. Some good reviews on line. Touch wood I don't need it, but as with any insurance, proof will be if/when I come to call upon it.

Curbed my front left wheel today, two small scuff/scratches on the alloys.

So pissed off. You can barely see them unless you get close and look, but still, they are there.

Just careless. Decided to manually reverse park and was too close. If I'd use auto park it neevr would have happened.

I suppose it was bound to happen eventually. I have to park alongside curbs every day, unavoidable in London.

Think I will get some of this insuranace.

I'm with on this, no matter how small or minor its just annoying.

Ouch - it does suck. Treading that fine line between tucking in as close as you can so you’re not liable to get scratched or lose a mirror cap on the road-side, and that horrible scraping sound as you go just that fraction too far. I feels ya pain!
