Bootmod3 B46/B48 Stage 2s, ~300+whp 350+wtq 1/4 mile 0-60 dyno Official Tuning Thread
Has anyone bm3 stage 2'd their B48 yet for daily and have any track record of reliability?
I've seen some blown mini engines running high boost at stage 2, albeit with a different tuner which reportedly has issues, but wanted to see if there have been any blown engines on bm3. Looking for b48 bm3 stage 2 users with downpipe running more than 20+ PSI 300whp and 350wtq with logs, dynos, dragy 0-60, 1/4 miles, drag tickets, videos or any tuning experience. Hehe I actually noticed the thread but it said stage 2 350whp. My car is stage 0.75 and only around 285whp using VD (highest I got was 290whp/318lbft). I've gotten higher torque before at slightly lower whp but yes.

chunll2001 took me for a ride this past weekend in his 330i with bm3 stage 2, full Armytrix_Exhaust exhaust with DP and MST intake - it was a monster! I don't know about reliability but seems like he daily drives his car pretty extensively so can't imagine there are reliability issues.

I've had a JB+ for about 3-4 months on the highest boost setting before changing into stage 2 like jeegunkim mentioned.
Since then I've had the stage 2 setup ( been about 6 months ) and I push my car pretty hard on the daily and I haven't had any issues yet. If you want lots of power I would definitely say go down the stage 2 route |

60,000km's on Bootmod3 Stage 2 93 OCT AGG map. Yesterday, coolant warning popped up and had to top up the coolant. Besides that, my lower active radiator shutter stops working on and off, probably unrelated to the tune. Otherwise, car runs beautifully. Never have I had a drivetrain malfunction. Car is always warmed up before spirited driving, and very smooth when pulling, I have done 180+km/h a few times a week for the last 3-4 weeks, before that I've been driving my car much more conservatively, usually only hitting 140km/h at max.
Hope you find this information resourceful! FYI, I've been on some form of Stage 2 map from Bootmod3 whether it is 93/91, AGG or non-AGG, since around 20,000km. |

Additionally, I want to add that I am not running anywhere near 20+ PSI of boost even on Stage 2 tune, I am running exactly 18 PSI when WOT. I know this because I used to log the car, and that was always the max value.
I do want to get my tune adjusted by either a local shop or E-Tuner, not sure which is the best option for me right now. I am certain with some specific adjustments on my car, I am able to maximize the power and efficiency while at the same time making the tune a little more reliable compared to OTS maps. With that being said, I am not at all suggesting the fact that OTS is unreliable because from my experience, it has proven to be very reliable. However, I do think that some parameters can be further adjusted to our car's locations, depending on where we live and what kind of climate our cars operate in as well as fine tuning the car for our specific driving style. That would ultimately be the best for our cars. |
