I like the look of this, and it shows where they are heading with full ev’s. No odd ‘let’s look different’ design. As the first in a line of full ev’s I’m expecting this one to be well out of my price range, but 5 or so years down the line it may become more mainstream, as when I have to buy a full EV, it’s not going to be one of the Kia/Hyundai/MG Chinese clones.

Actually, no! The people at Kia and sister brands Hyundai and Genesis would be quite surprised to find out they’re not in South Korea any more!

The 4GC and i4 will be very nice and exciting cars!
What's with all of you comparing the up coming 4 with the E-Tron GT anyway? The E Tron will compete with the Tesla S, Porsche Taycan, Lucid Air, Mercedes EQS. All of these vehicles will have a starting price near $100k eventually the BMW i5 or i7 will be in this category as well... The i4 competes with the Tesla 3. BMW has historically dominated the sports sedan market; aka 3 series... this is why Mercedes and Audi are waiting to see what BMW offers in this segment before they show off their models... My prediction is the i4 will be a wildly successful vehicle!! You all can continue to mindlessly make things up again... thanks for reading. |

Most of the miles on my M550 were between my house and the golf course, about 25 miles one way. If I could find an EV with some style and interior luxury, I'd definitely be in the market. Tesla doesn't do it for me, and I don't want to pay $100k+ to get that. This has possibilities. YMMV.

Talking about AUDI sports cars - I like the idea of producing a pure sports car or GT (like R8 or e-Tron GT) as a way to define the brand image and I think BMW should to something likewise on an emotional level. Being more rational I accept that BMW won't invest lot's of money in niche product - there's definitely more money to make with an i4. As far as I can remember the news from a few years ago AUDI isn't making any money with the R8 (or even lost money with every sold car). And don't believe it will be any different with the e-Tron GT, even though both cars have a good base to start with and lower development costs. |

Number 1 by far in overall owner satisfaction, though..
We'll know about squeaks and rattles in the refreshed Model S in a couple of years. My Model 3 is tight as a drum at 2 years and 30K miles, and seems to me to be evidence that Tesla learned a lot about this aspect of car building in the 8 years since the original Model S was introduced. |

Cognitive dissonance is powerful. Viper owners were also in very deep love despite the problems.
You may have been fortunate to get one of the "good ones" but a Tesla purchase remains a definite risk for quality, per a large sample of their own owners.

And you are not going to tell everyone at a cocktail party that your 100.000 $ car that you have been bragging about and will safe the earth by driving electric sucks and you made a bad decision. Tesla makes a very good electric driving system. No one has better mileage and range and their auto pilot is good. Just a shame they can't build good looking reliable luxury cars. If Tesla sells the whole thing to BMW / Mercedes / VW and one of them produces a German car with Tesla electric driving technology it will be the ultimate EV. And it was also a great idea to develop a supercharger network. Ionity in Europe is no where near to performance and coverage of Tesla superchargers. |
