Different Map Updates

Is there somewhere that describes what the differences between map update versions are? Such as Live, Premium, Professional, etc... and can you upgrade to a "better" version if that exists. I just bought a 2019 and it still has the 2018 map version and looking to get it upgraded.

Do you have a G20 running iDrive 7? If you do, you can just install the BMW map updater and update the map manually.

Yes I am running Drive 7. When I go to map update screen it does not give me any option to search for updates though.

In the EU they can download map updates for the full base map via the BMW ConnectedDrive Portal. The US doesn't have this option.

To answer your original question OP. You can only install the map that is compatible with your Head Unit. iDrive 7 cars all use "Live" maps and those are the only ones you can install.
