Hi,
I'm looking to get into an M340ix and it has to be flash tunable. Is the only thing I need to watch out for is that the production date being before June 2020? Anything else? |

You need to look at the production date of the DME, it is the only way to be really sure. You would need to pull the DME and look at the date on the manufacturer's label.

Wouldn't just the production date of the car tell you enough? I don't see how it's possible to have a car built with a dme that was made months later.

Highly likely, but it could be possible that the DME was swapped out by dealer if there was an issue that warranted it.

I think if you do a vin lookup, you can check to see if there was any service or warranty work like that done. Not trying to be difficult or anything, just suggesting an easier way then removing the dme.

For what it's worth DMW removal is maybe a 5 minute job at most requiring no tools. Here is a DIY I posted on the process a while back:
https://g20.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...1&postcount=20 Alternatively you could contact a tuner and have them check it for you remotely using their software and an OBD cable. I know Mission Performance (my flash) does this for no charge. Hope this helps |
