What a nonsense. It doesn't worth any "billions". The normal more conservative grill was the signature of the Bavarian automaker and was known everywhere. No need to have a pathetic and obnoxious design.

They did however, got rid of the Hofmeister kink and that was actually worth everything... !!! How that was not a unique feature of BMW?

If Nike will put that "swoosh" over three quarter of its shoes, you will not know that is a Nike anyway and it will look like crap...

People that buy a BMW just to make sure that even that redneck / uneducated "average Joe" knows what they are driving, then they did not buy this vehicle for its engineering for sure; they just have more money than "Joe"...

But hey, I guess this is the new BMW's audience...

M Sport Seats

Is there any confirmation of the M Sport Seats in the US? That would be a deal breaker for me if the M50 doesn't have them.

Nike killing their swoosh would indeed make no sense. BMW killing this new provocative design which 80% rejects, would make perfect sense. Your analogy between both is totally irrelevant IMHO.

I feel you on this. but they don't make all those models for people like us. just like Porsche, building mass market stuff gives them room to make the special stuff.

The verdict is still out.
The sentiment in this forum does not reflect general consumer's opinion. We will know how well these cars sell in a few years time.
My guess? They will continue to sell well.

I think I read BMW had a change of heart regarding those early outline i grilles and went with a more traditional styling based on feedback to those studies (i Vision Dynamics and Vision i NEXT)

Pretty much as correct as a statement can be. This forums does not reflect how well they will sell this cars, considering this is a enthusiast forums more then it is for the average BMW interested person. The narrow scope of vision for a lot of the users here makes them think they are a majority of who BMW is selling and making cars for. Just as with other forums where a lot of like minded people are there is little room for a different view of how something is gonna be or not. When you check the forums here a lot of people here are claiming "The end is near" BMW is gonna drown.

You go out to the real world people are more positive in their view of BMW's recent changes in both terms of design and putting more R&D and investing money in to sustainability. Being a Zealot is a dangerous thing it narrows your mind to such an extent that any other view is considered being heretic as we the Hofmeister kink that got so many on the forums exploding like a volcano... you go out to the real world and people are like "The kink what?"

Same with the grill change for with the 3 series as an example E21 you can clearly see the whole front is pretty much a grill both vertical and horizontal

If you are telling your self something else then you are simply kidding your self it is when they went to the E36 design thats when they changed to that of the more horizontal grill with painting the sides of the grill making it smaller and less of a focus

And that was kept all the way to the F series so to speak when they started experimenting with connecting the headlights to the grill, oh man i remember what of a crazy show that was. So in other words BMW has been stuck design wise between the year 1970-2013. For me the E21 Enormous front as the whole grill have been looking more sporty then what came after it until E90.

Now that they have finally broken free of those chains and can experiment with the design. Thats when the conservative side went in to full nuclear meltdown on the forums :-) I bet BMW as a company when they change designer in the future someone is gonna say "Oh we will never ever change to that of the G series design grill again" and then show will go on and on. After all BMW does what BMW does the best making money whether it be of enthusiasts or the average Joe consumer.

Wow so many haters just unbelievable.
One has to appreciate electric and innovation, while appreciating the quality and feel of the BMW.
Also, so many polarizing posts - Tesla is better, bla bla. So I'm an owner of T M3 LR RWD and still pre-ordered the i4 (will decide M or non M later). Why? Cause I actually went Tesla M3 for the innovation, range, etc, but in my heart was just waiting for BMW to bring out something worthy. Now I can switch to BMW and just enjoy. Range wise - don't be fooled, it's an ~84 gross / ~81 net kwh battery with quite strong efficiency (ix3 already showing this, the i4 will be much more streamlined obviously) - so real life range (not WLTP / EPA nonsense) will definitely beat T M3 Performance / LR.

Yea, let’s give this guy all the dialogue and let’s not hire a professional presenter. And you know what? Let’s add some early 2010s dubstep beat over the video.

I mean seriously, what’s going on down at BMW?

True. But, with a less controversial design, they would have been able to sell more.

“Nike should kill their non functional swoosh. Makes no sense.”
Not even close - The Nike swoosh is a logo - the BMW kidneys a design signature but not in this awful version.

They should have made it more i8 like - that's a cool version of the kidneys that stay modern and stay true

More isn’t always the goal. Ideally, they only need as much demand as plant/component capacity.

Yep, I'm aware of the two 'concepts' that were out there. Apologies for not being more specific. They 100% could have carried that aesthetic over to the production car. The i4 grille is slightly less obnoxious than the regular 4 series. I could live with it in a darker color. When I'm done with my F30, I'll consider the i4. I do want my next car to be BEV.
