In the M135i it was a menu setting and I assume the same in G20s. I think it was vehicle setting Engine Sound. Maybe it doesn't have this till LCI as it's a fairly obvious meme setting.

I'm a bit in 2 minds about this.
First car I ever drove with it was a F10 M5. Didn't really bother me, as it was a bit of a novelty. Then years later I got a Golf R Mk 7.5 which came with fake sound. And boy did it come with a lot of it. Unbearable after about a day, but easy enough to code down or out. But here's the issue. The road noise was really annoying in that car so, I had it set mid way so you could hear "engine" noise rather than road/tyre noise. I also found it easier to hear where about on the rev band I was. So to the 340i...insulation is pretty good, and it's so much nicer than the R. But if using the paddles, which I like to do, and have the sunroof open, I do find it hard to hear the revs. I do have HUD so can see what's going on there, but I prefer judging things aurally. So if fake noise was on offer, I would take it and maybe add 10% in sport....but only if the option was there for me to choose whether to have it and at what level. If there was no choice, then I'd prefer not to have.
