To all the M340i Tuners in CA or where your State has strict emissions laws.

Just got done speaking with Carbahn Autoworks. The forms are correct, Carbahn is working on a Stage 2 flash tune that will be released very shortly. However, anyone in CA, except for those who only "track/offroad" the vehicle, will not be allowed to flash with stage 2 due to the catless downpipe. Carbahn's Stage 2 flash tune will only clear the CEL and tell your DME that everything is fine with emissions. You will only see a minimal WHP & TRQ gain due to the increased flow, not due to any software tweaks. According to Carbahn, BMW's catted DP is quite good for what it is compared to a lot of the aftermarket high-flow catted DPs, which apparently they are seeing break through very quickly due to poor design and manufacturing.

On to the interesting part.

Carbahn is in the works for adding a Stage 3 Kit! Yes, thats right a kit, not just a flash tune w/ matching factory warranty!.The kit includes a larger turbo, larger heat exchanger (air to air, not an intercooler, which is air to water), and a stage 3 flash tune. The kit is currently under review with the ARB and is expected to be released in 4-5 months.
This is exciting news for us that want to tune, have a matching factory warranty, and be emissions compliant; NO HOT SMOGS! I will be purchasing a Stage 1 flash tune in the coming months from them and will report back if I hear anything more regarding the Stage 3 kit. I will be posting back on this Post and additionally on the Facebook "BMW G20 M340i Owners Group" if you want to follow.

Thank you for sharing. Have they spoke about bench unlock. I visited their facility and they copied my DME back in Jan and not update yet.

I've tried joining the bmw m340 owners group several times and they keep denying me for some odd reason

I literally never post on FB but my guess is bc it's under my LLC name

Not sure exactly what you're asking here. They do bench unlocks at the shop so you can either schedule an appointment or send your DME in for a bench unlock. Tuners do not have a remote flash option for these cars with a DME that is locked from factory.
