Where do you notice the power gains from adding an aftermarket down pipe to the B58? It’s obviously quick off the line, so would it increase say 60-120mph acceleration?

**update**

Canceled original appointment and got the install done today for $256! I'm in the DC metro and was quoted $500, $660, and $256!

Initial thoughts:

Sound/tone is perfect. Probably 15-20% louder. Turbo spool is louder, overall exhaust note is more profound, plenty of burbles. I didn't want a real loud car, it's not real loud. But it is very noticeable and just sounds mean.

Power feels substantial. I have BMS intake and JB4. Generally drive in Map 1 or 2. Car flat out rips.

There is very minimal exhaust odor. I expected a slight exhaust smell and it has a slight exhaust smell.

As advertised, no CEL.

I went from doing 4.2/4.3 with just an axleback, to 3.78 by adding the AA dp. Measured with draggy.
2020 xdrive.

What about rolling speeds. Was the car much quicker from 60-100/120?

Haven't really tested that, but it definitely feels peppier from off the line or from a roll. It's probably the only mod that doesn't have any downside (except grey area for warranty and possible extra stress on the turbo).
Are u on the fence about getting one or just curious bout the numbers?

I'm on the fence about getting one. Not necessarily in it for drag times, but I like working on the car and a down pipe is easy enough. Currently have the Dinan axle back on the car. Kinda curious about this extra stress on turbo

Objectively the car is very quick off the line, there isn’t much more I can ask for in that aspect. In videos of the M340i against the F80 for example, it loses steam and gives up ground down the line. If a downpipe was to improve that I am sold.

Higher power and torque across the board with the power being noticeably higher at the top end.

There's a decent (and better than I can explain) explanation here: https://www.darksidedevelopments.co....-a-dyno-graph/

The power is more noticeable on the top end? Even stock?

I would have thought it would have been quicker spooling so better results off the line. I've found from a stop or going from cruising to WOT the difference is huge. Also, just the the improvement is worth it, the main reason I went with it actually.

I have a 2021 RWD with the AA DP + MPE + JB4 Map 3 E30 and I ran a 12.1@119mph (2.06 60’) in ~1400 DA per Dragy.

I’ve since added an MST intake and running a custom Map 6, but haven’t had a chance to do any 1/4 mile runs.

What's the general consensus on VRSF high flow catted vs AA? I'm thinking of just doing VRSF with a tune for less than the price of AA downpipe by itself.

Performance is the same.

AA uses GESI cats which are EPA approved and do not throw a check engine light even without a tune (guaranteed)

If you are using a tune, you wont get a check engine light no matter which downpipe you use but keep in mind that does not make the car emission legal and you will still fail the emission inspection even if there is no check engine light showing

Hey! So I'm a guy whose very sound driven and I'm trying to get as close to the best sound as possible and I want it really loud, but definitely not obnoxiously loud like how some mustangs and dodges are. I was wondering do you think you can describe how much louder it gets in more detail? Like do you hear the difference only above for ex: above 3000+ rpm or do you hear it all round? Just how noticeable is the difference? Can you describe how it changed the sound in more detail?

Thanks!

I dont think anyone can really describe it, and videos don't really do it justice. If u want load and aggressive then u will love a downpipe, and it's not as loud as a mustang. Why don't u find a local group or meet up, I'm sure it won't be hard to come across someone who has one.

I installed mine today. It's louder, but very mild in my opinion on my 2021 m340i. Still considering getting an exhaust as I wanted to see how loud the downpipe made the car.

You installed the AA catted? Are you running a stock exhaust?

I have the AWE, cannot wait to see how they pair together
