The cat and mouse game of BMW releasing new bootloaders is a concern, this is probably for new builds starting early 2022. Highly doubt that BMW is going to update thousands of MAG-1 DME's with the new patch.

From ISTA v.4.32.33 and I-Step F0xx-21-11-5xx, looking in kis database, all the bootloaders have a new revision.

btld-00004294-001.035.005
btld-00004295-001.035.005
btld-000048dc-001.035.005
btld-00005d53-001.035.005
btld-00006198-001.035.005

BMW might have patched something. I don't have any information on what they changed, but a new bootloader update have actually been released.

While I don't technically understand it, the bootloader revision update etc- is exactly what MP/Alex told me was going to happen from BMW. And therefore wasn't happy with the current state of unlocks for the latest DMEs and wouldn't release it for public consumption.

I've met with Alex several several times over the years (as many of you know) he is always tight lipped about his inside sources and work with OEMs. And that's okay (I've learned not to ask) - I don't need to know I just need to know that he is on top of things. I didn't see anyone else talking about this or knowing about changes months ahead, but him. And I for one appreciate and respect that 100%

If the guy would put his wrenches down and stop building cars and/or get out from behind his keyboard writing code and cracking, and look to social media and marketing etc...for exposure, I'm confident his brand would explode exponentially (well beyond the success he already enjoys). While he has customers around the globe...it seems sales, marketing and hype is way down the list in terms of what is important to him. It's just about the product and deliverable for him.

But alas he just goes about his business...people find him and then they get it. Toyota TRD found him - so that's pretty cool

It has to be extremely profitable for him to release a solution for B58 products (BMW/Toyota). I can't see how it shouldn't be up on a priority list because it's literally hundreds of thousands of dollars of sales, without any substantial overhead/costs.

I just want to get my damn car tuned already. I hope it happens soon.

G80 M3/M4 bootloader isn't there, FYI (btld-000048db). The one Femto has unlocked/cracked.

It's not. He'll get sniffed the first day by bootmod3 + Autotuner + CMDTec + bFlash + probably 10 other tools I'm forgetting and they will sell unlocks for $0-$99. Look at current market prices. Plus if he goes public BMW will notice and patch the exploit and then we're all really screwed.

Better to keep it private.

Just HWEL/HWAP changes, no code changes. Whatever CBOOT vulnerability Mission/Alex found in `btld_00006198.bin.001_025_003.dec` (if he isn't lying) is presumably still there.

I just detuned my MP stage 2 yesterday. What a difference it makes, it’s noticeably more responsive and quicker with the tune even though stock is still pretty fast. Will be selling my tune soon once I figure out how that works if anyone is interested.

Any particular reason you decided to detune? I was thinking about hopping over from my Gintani tune to MP.

I am selling my car so I put it back to stock. Took off the downpipe a couple weeks ago and erased the tune earlier this week. Supposedly I can sell the tune but I need to contact Alex to figure out how. It’s a stage 2 set up for 93 octane.

If he's willing to change the octane for California's unfortunate gas I could be interested. Please keep me in the loop!

Garage List
2020 BMW M340i  [0.00]
Almost 6 months later and no release from mission performance. I 100% give them props for unlocking all the prior ECU's but holding out releasing this one. I am not sure why they continue to wait. Someone will figure it out soon enough. Especially because a lot of G80 M3's are starting to be delivered and people are already modding them and running low 10's on JB4. Secondly, people are buying the A91 supra's. This will start to raise many eyebrows in the community and many people will start trying to unlock the ECU. Soon enough, someone will release an OBD2 flash and MP will still be holding onto their secret instead of helping out the community.
