War may hold up production

Ordered a 430 Grand Coupe' from my local dealer just over a month ago. Was told today that production may be much slower than previously quoted because of the war. Any dealers or salespeople have any insight to this being a fact or just an opinion from my dealer??? Im wondering if this was a sales tactic, because they were trying to get me to buy a 2 door they received yesterday that was similar to my build but not a Grand Coupe'

The supplier making the wiring looms for BMW has production plants in Western Ukraine. It’s an issue for more than just BMW as this company is a major supplier to other car manufacturers as well.

Combination of both :
The current war will affect both the production and transport of various components. With the cost of transport sky rocketing, they could also push back transporting the vehicle as a way of saving money and thus delaying your order.
As for the sales technique, then it is the interest of any company to liquidate inventory asap and turn it into cash so of course they want to offload anything they do physically have

Ordered 430 convertible on Feb 2nd…

When I placed the order, it quickly went to “Scheduled for Production”, then dropped back to “Order Submitted”. I called the BMW Genius and was told that my vehicle was due to begin production in Week 12. Just about a week or so ago, it’s status changed to “Scheduled for Production”, and a call (on Mar 4) to the Genius confirmed that it’s still scheduled for Week 12.

I am week 11 and my M440xi CV has been at step 150 in Germany for a week now. Genius on Thurs said it's still expected to finish production by Mar 14.

I placed an order about 2 weeks ago for m440gc. Its still in order bank, dont even have allocation to it.

I was told this order might take up to 6 months now due to world events we are all aware of. My manages said up to 5 months but I always bump another months to be safe.

At this rate I even thinking to cancel my order and keep my current ride.

That seems extremely unlikely under current conditions. I recommend keeping your expectations at zero. My experience during our 5.5-month build process is that the "geniuses" really don't have a clue. Sorry to rain on your parade, but while I hope I'm wrong and you get your car a.s.a.p., based on the experience of many forum members, it's not at all likely.

Exactly, it was announced by BMW that factories are closed this week at least. Probably even longer.. can't really complete a car without wiring

Have you found an official announcement from BMW? I've just seen media reports, which may not be completely factual. There could be limited production.

Thanks. Hang in there. The wait and uncertainty is brutal. I didn't handle it well during our 5.5 month wait. When delivery day arrived it was surreal and hard to believe it was actually happening.

No official comms from BMW nor do I speak German so I can't really search for German articles but I'm sure there will be some.

Recent news from yesterday tells us that BMW is starting the production again next week.

My 440 is still in Quality Control - 3 weeks now. BMW Genius said it is waiting for one component. They didn't know what it was but given that the factory is closed this week I'm hoping that it comes in and is able to be installed next week. Does anyone else have more information?
