That's all well and good , but will only work if Wi-Fi has been reactivated via a dealer visit first.

So after a day wasted at my dealership i can tell you what are the steps .
You have to do the recall at your Bmw service . Wi-fi is restored . You can't do remote update because there is no wi-fi in the car , to connect with the phone .
The problem is that the Connected Drive it isn't updated with the smartphone interface for the cars with 6P1 (temporary delete wi-fi).
At 16:00 pm my service advisor received the information that the cars will be provisioned starting 19 may , when we will have to update the services .

So do the recall , and wait for 19 may . You can find attached the information .

Yes. Or call your dealer and ask if they already have the latest ISTA version available so they can update your car.

I agree, everything seems clear now! In my case, my dealer is clueless, they installed S18A-22-03-540 (while a newer ver was already available) and I did not get WIFI back, so I will have to go a second time, but I'll wait for you to share with us the exact version that restores the functions...

I think they had to install S18A-22-03-550 because that's the version BMW mentions in the Technical Document.

Correct i'm afraid! -546, -550 and -552 all include the wifi software. --52 is included with ista 4.35.18 with was released this week ( The only actually difference between 546 and 552 was some config changes on the BDC & ACSM modules, no actually head unit changes. But I imaging the BDC config change enabled the online provisioning)

You won't get Carplay back on May 9th.

Car is currently at dealership for installing Alarm Class 3. Due to chipshortages this wasn't installed at the factory.
When they have the latest ISTA update available, they will also install this.

It’s not the world since affected owners won’t have to take their cars to the dealership. The OTA update will fix the problem, which isn’t BMW’s fault in the first place.

Unfortunately my dealer wasn’t able to install the latest update via ISTA on my car. They escalated this to BMW. SIGH!

We will see.

There's 2 kinds of remote software upgrade download:
1) via your phone. the data is downloaded onto your device, then copied from your phone to the car with the WiFi connection. This obviously won't work if you have a car with 6P1 and istep less than 22-03-550
2) via the cars 4G LTE connection. This should in theory still work, in fact i purchased High Beam assistant in februrary on a week 1 car with 6P1, and it pushed it through as a remote software upgrade, and bumped the istep at the same time.

I'm sure there will be a proper press comms about all this come the launch date, at the moment we are really all in "investigation mode", garnering data from multiple sources. A little bit like gossip rumour and lies.

My data is coming from interogating the actual software that is contained in each istep, seeing what support has been added in each version. That coupled with a dealer contact who has been rather helpful.

We are nearly there folks !

I also bought High Beam Aasist last week and it was installed remotely. So that does still work even though I also have 6P1.

I'm looking at vin mdecoder and I don't see 6P1. I see a line that Sc6p preparation Apple CarPlay .. is the going to ship without wireless carplay?

My car is awaiting carrier so wondering how I can check if I'm 6P1 ?
