Build / Delivery Status codes

Could I ask if anyone has the latest set of delivery codes?

The ones I have start with 1100 scheduled, 1200 Scheduled for production.

I have a new 330e on order and its quoted 047?

I am thinking the codes may have changed?

Appreciate anyone's help.

047 basically means your dealer doesnt have a quota for the car. How recently did you place the order?

It was placed today, they do have a quota and I'm told to expect within 24 hours it will be a "confirmed for production"

We will see!

I've got an M440i on order at present and have had issues shall we say with these build codes all through the process. The ones I had from a previous order only 12 months ago were four digit codes and was always the European market set of codes the dealers in the UK used, the three digit codes were BMW NA build codes as evidenced by some of the descriptions on the code lists our NA friends sent to us from across the Pond.
Sometime over the past 12 months BMW AG have been changing their systems and standardising the build code lists presumably because it's beneficial to them. From my experience it's not quite like that for us UK buyers. This 'new list' of codes as shown by another forum member above don't seem to be as detailed as the old four digit list and from my personal experience are not nearly as regularly updated by BMW as the 'old' four digit codes were.

For example mine sat at 155 for nearly three weeks and has been at 182 now since 3rd August according to the dealer and yet 'Genius' says it's at 160, figure that one out bearing in mind they are all supposed to be looking at the same system!

Apologies if this information may appear somewhat disheartening but if it's any consolation my dealer reckons the most important aspect is the 'Expected delivery wk' date. If that doesn't change then your order is in the system and most likely moving through the various stages but the updating isn't actually keeping up to date with the vehicle's journey!

My understanding of code 047 is that the order is placed with BMW UK who then put it over to BMW AG who once they accept it will then get an AG order number and will subsequently move to 111 and then on to 112 once a 'factory build slot' is allocated.
Once your supplying dealer sees a chassis number allocated on their order screen you know the vehicle is then going to get built.

Hope some of if not all of that helps!

Hi thanks for all the help. I too feel that they are a new set of codes as I believe the 3 series is Mexico built.

I asked and the dealer immediately gave me the BMW AG order number.

Let's see what happens.

I may be wrong but I'm not sure all 3 series for Europe and the UK are built in Mexico?

Certainly those for BMW NA are and Mexico are building all the new 2 series coupes.

Feel sure someone on here will likely know and correct me if I'm wrong!

Since you have a BMW AG order number you could always 'live chat' with BMW Genius and see what build status code they come up with?

155 for three weeks might be pretty standard?!

I think there are issues with distribution at the moment. Mine has been sat on 155 for two weeks.

That's interesting to know dpazz. The two weeks delay following production may have been a 'temporary stall' waiting for a particular component available for our vehicles despite showing as 'production complete'?

When I had a live chat with one of the 'Genii' this afternoon as to why my order hasn't progressed from 182 since 3rd August I was told it may be one of the first of a batch released from the factory and waiting other vehicles to 'join the party' before then moving 'on block' to a car carrier, let's hope so as my delivery wk hasn't changed any more from wk 34 and that's next week!

Upshot of all that is my order, and potentially yours too, could all quite suddenly change en masse within the next couple of days?

Can't be arsed to contact the 'Genii' !!! again tomorrow I'll wait till Thursday when the dealer is scheduled to ring me again with an update prior to him having a deserved long weekend off!

Only speculation, but I'd guess they manufacture then hand over to a different department for the distribution. So 155 is effectively a load of cars sat in a car park somewhere awaiting for distribution. Anything after that seems to be logistics related and international shipping is still in a mess post-COVID.

I think you’re absolutely right in all those respects. They have to clear final inspection, be cleared by the export sales team, loaded onto closed rail cars, transported to the relevant Port of Exit, cleared by German Customs and finally loaded onto a car carrier to set sail for the relevant UK Port of Entry. In short they could be absolutely bloody anywhere!
The only solid information is when they’ve arrived in the UK and been consigned by BMW UK !!!
Sometimes feels like we’ve been waiting forever!
The OP has all this pleasure to experience yet!

Just for your information when the dealer gives you the VIN for your order if it begins with a W then it’s being built in Germany if it begins with the number 3 then it’s being built in Mexico!

Also the OP hasn't said (I don't think) what model it is but I'm pretty sure I've read that G21s are not built in Mexico because they don't sell them in the USA.

Unless it's changed the G20 'Sedan' is built in Potosi in Mexico and the G21 is built in Munich?

OP stated a 330e on order so not sure if that’s G20 or G21. Can you get a G21 330e? I’ve never looked.

Right, thanks for that! In which case if it’s one of those then I’d reckon it would almost definitely be built in Germany because as you say the USA doesn’t get the touring. Only right since they’d refer to it as a ‘wagon’ !
