Angrier Exhaust (Downpipe, OPF, Resonator, Muffler)
Ok, so Im starting a big mod project on my G20 2020 330e (Engine code ending with B, so 330i engine)
The mods im doing includes exhaust, mapping, lowering, styling and cosmetics. Im trying to learn along the way as much as I can on the way and ive looked all over but couldnt find an answer black on white the questions I have listed here. So my plan was initially to do downpipe, resonator delete and muffler delete. However wondering if this will be too loud, or if I should do OPF delete instead of resonator etc etc.. Cant quite land on anything yet. Ive got a guy helping me with welding and cutting this luckily, I am paying him though. PS: Attached is a picture where things are as I understand them in terms of names. Here are the following to my knowledge: 1. Downpipe (Main Cat) 2. OPF (Second mini cat) 3. Resonator 4. Axleback muffler 1. Out of the four mufflers, which one will give the most raw and sporty sound when deleted? Preferably listed in order. There's probably a difference between which ones will result in a deep sound and which will create a "sharper" sound when gone. 2. As I understand it, deleting the rear muffler will result in the most change in sound volume? 3. Does deleting the OPF or the resonator produce more sound? In other terms, which of them would you delete? If not both..? (I've read that you can address the CEL and limp mode when deleting the OPF with BimmerLink or a similar program, there are no direct sensors on the OPF but the car will detect and react to something "going on" apparently.) 4. Again, hypothetically, removing all four units equals a straight pipe, as I understand it. Would it just be way overkill and insanely loud? Maybe not a particularly cool sound either? 5. Pops and bangs. This is a big one for me, dont wanna go crazy but would be cool to have some at least. There are a lot of tools out there, Bootmod3, MG Flasher, etc etc. Would be nice to stick to just one for this and stage 1 and 2. Instead of jumping between two applications. The 330e doesn't have any pops mapped in (only sliight ones on cold start) However the 330i does, and it has the same engine! Did BMW map this in the 330i to appear more sporty then the hybrid maybe. - Anyway, which of these tools is best for doing this tweaking? With a friendly user interface. Also it would be nice with a tool that you can switch between using phone and PC. Something that has a user friendly interface and one can do at least tweaking pops and bangs, and stage 1, 2. Deactivate CELs with cat removed and OPF removed and etc. I would greatly appreciate some guidance on this as im a complete noob and would love to learn more! You can DM me also ofc. Again, I have very little knowledge, but I'm trying to become a bit wiser and learn more about how things work with cars in general while getting some tips and tricks Every input is greatly appreciated! Thanks a lot |
