Diesel Smell in Cockpit
I was wondering if anyone else has had this issue.
I got my G21 320D Sport in November last year and within a week noticed that every so often I would smell raw diesel fumes ( not exhaust fumes ) in the cabin. I have found that the smell only becomes apparent when traveling for over 40 miles ( ish) or over 1 hour and then coming to a stop at lights, roundabouts, or later on in my tests, service stations. I have kept the car well away from other vehicles on these tests so I know it is not coming from them. The car has been back to BMW twice and they say they cant find a problem, but on receiving the car testing I can smell diesel. My girlfriend has also confirmed this also. BMW 's explanations are Engine wax New car smell Diesel on my shoes Cars in front and vents pointed at my face. I think they just don't believe me. The car is going back to the main dealer this week for testing but I just thought I would check if anyone else had had this issue or an idea what it could be as its driving me nuts. I have had several 3 series in the past and I have never had an issue like this. |

It was really nauseating and after much investigation turned out to be a faulty fuel tank venting valve or similar |
