Adaptive suspension worth it for i4 eDrive 40 RWD ?

Does anyone with an i4 eDrive40 have the Adaptive Suspension option ? Is it worth the extra cost ? In Canada AS is a stand alone option for $1500 extra.

I have it and for the first few months only drove in Sport mode. Not the smoothest of rides. I learned that with wife or parents in car or on highway I can get a more comfortable ride in the other modes. I do recommend it and like being able to change it on the fly. What I don’t know is how different of a ride it is without it since my time in cars without it was limited to a test drive or 2.

I have it on mine and love it. I have not driven one without it.

Daily driving on local roads = comfort. On interstates = sport. Spirited driving = sport.

On interstates, the sport irons out the floatiness you get in comfort, which is fine at lower speeds. But at higher speeds, it doesn't rebound as quickly, less control, so sport does that well.

It’s amazing. The electric motor is smooth as it is, couple that with the adaptive and you’re making love on a cloud

Note that the adaptive dampers are just on the rear suspension. The front is the same.

No the adaptive damping is on all four corners. The air suspension is just on the rear.

According to BMW, these statements are correct.

adaptive suspension

I took a non-adaptive suspension to a BMW car control clinic last Feb and pushed it past my limits on their autocross course so I don't miss it myself. I prefer the 18" tiress and longer range.

And less range w/the 19" wheels.

You can always buy 18s. Maybe even 17s.

Just realized my I4 with adaptive suspension has air suspension in the rear? Because it lowered the back when I opened the trunk ! Fun little Easter egg.

My wife’s X7 does that.. but didn’t think it was necessary on an I4.

I never saw/felt the adaptive suspension move up or down. I have the i4 Xdrive40. But I know I have it. When on the freeway, if I set to sport, right away you can feel every little bump on the road. If I switch it back to normal, it still feels a little harsh but smooth enough where my wife doesn’t complain.
So… if I got the sports tuned suspension, I would definitely not like the car as much as I do.
