2020 m340 Xdrive 225/40/19 to 235/40/19

Will I be able to successfully Do a 235/40/19 squared setup on my Xdrive 2020 m340, it came stock with a 225/40/19 setup. What will the advantages be? Better handling? I’ll also be switching from the Pirelli p zero all season run flats to ps4s so I know that alone will help performance wise but what about the 225-235? Or should I just keep it at 225

Bottom line… no. Since it’s AWD, the plus one sizes wind up being off by too high of a margin. Could you possibly pull it off? Perhaps. But you could get a drivetrain error/malfunction and then you’ve just wasted all that money. Nothing wrong with the 225s. Only thing you can really do is get stickier tires if you’re really after grip. And a plus-one tire width won’t do a whole lot for you anyway. Might change the driving feel slightly, but contact patch still remains relatively low. Go stickier. Not bigger.

This isn't true and has been widely debated in the thread regarding different setups on squared wheels with xdrive. he's staying with a squared setup. if he was moving just the rears up a size the % difference between front and rear could be off by too much. I've been doing a lot of reading myself as i plan to ditch the RFT tires sooner than later.

235/40/19 is perfect

I run 235/40/19 NONrunflats Continental DWS with no issues whatsoever. The only thing is you can’t manually input those numbers in the car settings. What the other person said about not being able to run it is incorrect .

Completely false. Running 235/40 19 Conti dws06+ and it's night and day comfort, grip and drivability over 225s, especially RFTs. OP, don't hesitate. Do it.

I am wondering if the same is possible for a Staggered setup on a m340i xDrive.

Is it safe to do 235/40/19 Front and 265/35/19?

agalaxyfaraway - that will work. The general rule for xDrive is to keep the difference in diameter under 1%. You can use e.g. https://tiresize.com/comparison/ to calculate easy. But have in mind that the rims have their limitations on what tyre width is proper to fit on them.

zlatko - The rims are 791M with:
8Jx19 ET27 Front
8.5Jx19 ET40 Rear

Would it be a good change to increase to the sizes I suggested above? Thanks!

Hey man. Do you think going up to 245/40 19 on a squared setup is too much?

From what I've read and talked to Tire Rack on 245/40 is too tall. You would want to be 245/35 square based on rolling diameter tolerances, to keep stock drivability. Even then 245 section width isn't advisable on the 8" wheel (sidewall flex).

I *think* forum members have done both, though.
Check out the Max Square thread in this section.
