Oh man I couldn’t handle a wait like that haha. I’m not familiar with the Mexico plant but what is the port of exit to the east coast? And do you find out what ship you are on once your status updates to in transit and you call the genius or do they have that information beforehand? Sorry for the rookie questions, hopefully they aren’t too stupid…

Oh get ready for a nice wait! For me it was Baltimore, but I’ve seen some people have theirs go to NJ/NY. Yes once it’s “In Transit” Genius can tell you which ship your car is on.

Sadly, I don't have all of the dates. My allocation was for the week of February 12. It has been listed as At Port for about a week. Just flipped to In Transit this morning. Was RFT for several weeks before that. Dealer contacted me last week and seemed to think it would be at the dealership by the end of March.

I had to trade my '22 M340xi (Portimao blue) way down due to some job insecurity last spring. That got sorted out and I missed it so much I placed an order for this 330xi. DW has a late model 330xi and I've been driving it trying to adjust to the 4-cyl. I think I'll be OK with it. I've already planted a seed by telling DW I'll drive it for 3 years and then possibly trade up based on where we are at financially (trying to retire early).

Here's what I have coming:

Melbourne Red on Black
M-Sport
Shadowline w/ Blue Calipers
Remote Start
Heated Seats/Steering Wheel

Are M340 allocations hard to come by these days? Or can you get one just as easy as you can get a 330?

Hey everyone! Just recently joined and my very first post. My first time ever ordering a brand new car. Placed my deposit on Jan 12th on a fully loaded Dravit grey M340i XDrive and still no allocation… I feel like I’m in for a really long wait. Maybe bump me into the 2025 model?

I walked into my dealership on March 13th to look at a m340i fresh off the truck. My wife decided she would rather order, so we did a build with the CA and placed a deposit. Two days later, my CA called me and gave me my production number. He said they had to do a dealer trade to get the allocation (I think bc we ordered Tanzanite w/ Vernasca leather). Regardless, didn’t seem too hard to the allocation. Maybe your dealer isn’t trying hard enough?

This actually happened to me when I was shopping for my '22 M340xi.

I went into one of the two dealers in town and said "I want to buy this car." They said "No problem!". I spec'd it out, put a deposit down, and they said it would be about 3 months to build and they'd call me when it's on the way.

After 2 months I called and asked about getting the financing started to save time and the SA said, "Oh. We don't have an allocation for you and we aren't getting any in the foreseeable future."

I know 2022 was a difficult time with supply chain issues, but man I was PO'ed. At least give me a call and be honest with me about what's up.

RHDRich Have you talked with your SA since you put the deposit down?

Thats almost exactly what happened to me lol. “Yeah, it’ll be here in about 2-3 months.” 3 months passes by with no allocation… but yeah I spoke to him. They’re struggling to get allocations. They even tried trading other dealerships and even paying other dealerships for allocations. So far no bite. They’re almost certain I’ll be getting a 2025 by the time it’s all said and done. Which I’ll be ok with waiting a little longer for at this point.

Hard to really say. I would lean towards yes from seeing others posts. However, in my case, I received production number on 1/3/24 and my allocation was for week 9 (week of feb. 26).

Get your money back and speak to dealership that actually has allocation. I got the production number the day I placed the order.

Edit: Dealers in Cali and Texas are great to work with.

The problem is they are probably waiting for the MSO (new car title) from BMW NA. My car was on the same ship and I'm in New York, the car got to the dealership Sunday and they are still waiting for the MSO to come (I work for the dealership which is how i know all of this)

Hi all, I’m new here but figured I would post my new M340i Xdrive and the dates that I tracked (luckily for me I didn’t find out about the online tracker until later in the process so I managed to not obsess for the first few weeks until I found out.) The car is portimao blue with mocha vernasca leather and all options except power tailgate and 5g sim.

1/5/24 - initial contact with dealer
1/10/24 - build entered into system
2/2/24 -production date
2/28/24 - in transit from Mexico (RCC Europe)
3/13/24 - at the port (NY/NJ POA)
3/17/24 - in transit from port
3/18/24 - arrived at dealership
3/22/24 - collected the car from dealership

Of course it decided to snow on collection day so I found out how much traction PS4S’s get in the snow (not a lot). Pictures below:

I too went from a 340 (2018) to the new 330i. I had a couple year gap in between them, but the current gen 330i with the m-sport and adaptive dampers is still a lot of fun to drive. Plenty quick still too. I’m sure the m340i is still better but I don’t find I’m missing the b58 too much (except for the sound).

I’m glad you made it home on those tires! They get rock hard near freezing temps and also become brittle. Even without snow, at low temps they’re not going to provide much traction.
