Morning all,
I searched but cod not see that thus has been mentionen. Just saw that after an app update ( UK ), my BMW app is now showing an eSim option.
You can get to it either from tge Home Page, Vehicle Control Centre and then Vehicle Settings, and eSim is 3rd from the bottom.
You can also get there from my BMW profile page, 3rd Party Servives and eSim.
I am on iDrive 8. There are various plans, I haven't looked at it properly as yet as just off to work.

Having said that, I've no idea what it is or why I would need it - ergo I don't.

The main feature is it can create a WiFi hotspot in the car so passengers can use that instead of their own data (or if they have WiFi only devices). It also gives better reception for any iDrive connected services as it uses the car's external aerial rather than your phone's.

its not actually available to us, it's just that they forgot to hide it in the app for UK customers !

expected it to disappear again in the next month

I take it that you tried it. I got to all the way to set up account and chose the plan, but did not go past that as I do not need a wifi hub in my car.

You would have thought that they would check what they are putting out as part of the update to the app before a release, but obviously, they dont.

Mind you if I had ID8 I still wouldn't be bothering, sod my passengers they can use their own data connection/allowance, I'm not paying for it!
